cant release urine

cant release urine

Ive been holding my urine about and hour or two after the first urge to go for the last 3 days and I get nervous to release the urine. Will volume help me relax to go easier?

Once your bladder signals your brain that it needs to be voided, it's not a good idea to hold it. Holding urine for long periods of time can cause harmful bacteria to grow and in some cases, and overfull bladder will become distended and the bladder can no longer push the urine out. This can quickly become a medical emergency.
Why are you nervous about releasing your urine? Did something happen in the last three days to cause you do begin doing this?
I'm not sure if volume will help you go easier. I know if I have to go really, really bad, the flow will take longer to begin, but that's just me.
I would try to break this habit and if you find you're having difficulty doing that, please see a urologist.
I wish you the best

You won't be able to hold your urine for long because of the way the bladder is made. It is actually very fibrous and when extended enough it cannot hold the urine.   At some point it will just start to flow out, and this may happen at a very inconvenient time, so you don't want this to happen.  The bladder is made to hold urine, so I see no reason for you to get an infection. You need to address why you are afraid to release it, that is the real issue here. Take care...

Like lydia stated...you could actually be putting yourself in a precarious situation here.  IF you ignore that signal to urinate....your bladder may become distended and overfull, which is where infections can start...and like lydia stated, sometimes it even becomes difficult to then void if you wait too long. Its not as if your bladder will just start emptying itself just because it is overfull. Thats not always the case.   The bladder is very "stretchable", so it will expand to hold the contents, HOWEVER, everyone's bladder has basically a natural preset limit whereas you then receive the "urge" to go....its important not to ignore that.

You need to get to the bottom of why you are all of a sudden uncomfortable relieving yourself. If you feel it is a medical issue, then give your doc a call for an appt.  It is very easy to diagnose a UTI, if that is what you're dealing with (or, if that will be the result of you holding your urine)....and they are very easily treatable.

Bottom line...don't mess around with this...when you get the urge to pee, pee!  If you are struggling with that for some reason, then get yourself some professional help SOONER rather than later so this doesn't become an even bigger issue.
