celexa questions...info please!!!

Is anyone here on Celexa or has ever been on it? I used to be on prozac for severe anxiety and panic disorder, but stopped due to the side effects. I have been on celexa now for 3 days, and usually by now I would feel some side effects and I don't, which is good! I am still anxious right now, but I believe it is because I always get nervous about taking medications. I am one of those people who is convinced I will have a bad reaction to anything I take, so I know I need to just stick it out. But, if you have any stories or advice about taking celexa, please share them with me. As I said, I have bad anxiety, so hearing how other people did on it will help ease my mind. Thanks a lot.

Please be careful when you go off of Celexa, follow directions from your doctor.
I had a bad episode going off it too soon, too quick.  Go slow go gradually.  Even cut the pills in half and quarters....going off too quickly can send you into a tailspin of a depression and it takes soooooo long to feel normal again. Poppyrose

thanks for the comment. Luckily, I haven't been sick to my stomach, and I seem to be feeling good so far. I was told that the tiredness will go away once I am used to it, so I am waiting, patiently! Thanks again, and let me know how you are doing!

today is my 15th day on celexa... and it just gave me horrible stomach aches for a while and it sucked... felt like throwing up, just throwing it out there lol... but besides that I have not had any side effects that were bad during that time... I was on Zoloft and I was always tired and it sucked because I felt like I could not do anything.... the tiredness will go away trust me....

thanks for the information. I am now on day 5 and I seem to be doing much better on the celexa than on the prozac. With the prozac i felt really weird and not able to focus, but I feel ok with the celexa. But, I am very tired, but I was told that was common at first. Do you think that by now I would have felt some side effects if I was to have any? Thanks again!

That is great that you are not having many side effects.  As with any SSRI like Celexa it can sometimes be trial and error before finding the right one for you.  I used to worry about side effects of any medication, but I also tend to find that 'side effects' can often worsten when we think about them.  It usually took me about 3-4 weeks to get over the initial side effects, but it is a useful tool as long as it is combined with talk therapy to learn about the anixiety/panic cycle.  Keep us posted!
