changing med dose.

My sertraline was upped to 100mg 6 days ago. I was ok till yesterday and now I have had a bad headache then and today. My doctor has said to drop back to 50mg for a few days. I have been feeling quite well on the higher dose so don't know whether to stick it out a bit longer or not.

6 days is nothing.  It usually takes at least 2 wks for it to really work and side effects to go away, for me at least.  For depression it acts quicker, but for anxiety/OCD it takes longer, like 6 weeks.  Everyone gets headaches with or without zoloft, so it could just be a natural thing that you're attributing to the zoloft.  It is good to be safe... but try toughing it out and giving it 8 weeks.  If you're not better than, and the side effects are still persisting, then zoloft probably isn't for you if it isn't working at 50 mg either.

I took Sertraline over the summer and I found that every time I increased the dose, about three to four days later, I would get a terrible headache that would last a couple of weeks.  It always went away, though, as my body adjusted.  I'd try to tough it out on the 100 mg if you can, since you've already been on it almost a week and you're noticing improvements in how you feel.
