Chest pain and anxiety attacks go hand in hand for nearly all of us...........but chest pain that does not go away soon after the anxiety attack should be evaluated by a doctor.
I would say it's NOT normal and you really need to see your doctor to rule out an organic reason for the continuing pain.
Please let us know what you find out, OK?
Peace

I have had chest pains, pain in both arms, legs, hands, abdomen, neck, back, headaches sometimes and about everywhere else you can imagine.  I have had a very extensive cardiac workup.  Everything but a angiogram and tilt table test and holter.  I have had CT angiogram (normal) Calcium screening ( scored 0), Stress test (normal), MRI of Cervical Spine ( lots of bulging Disks and Lesion at C-5 level),   Ct of abdomen (diverticulosis), MANY EKG's (normal), Echo (normal), Corotid doppler (normal), Endoscopy (esophogitis), TONS of bloodwork (normal),  I know i forgot something.  This has all been going on for over 6 months now.

My docs (and i have many) are all saying anxiety.  Been to a counselor but i moved and have yet to see a actually doctor about this.

Still no real answer.

My pains come only when i am sitting or inactive.

Good luck and hope feel better

If your EKG was normal, then I say RELAX! They would NOT have let you leave if there was any evidence at all of something abnormal going on. The Xanax will no doubt help, but YOU have to help as well..........by not obsessing about your heart...............just let the Xanax work. The pain will go away and you can feel confident that it was related to your anxiety.
Take your Xanax and go for a nice long walk and think about anything except your heart. You'll be amazed.
Peace
