chest pain

hello, i am a 20 years old, 250 lbs, no bad medical history besides anxiety and panic attacks. recently, i have been getting sharp pains radiating from the center of my chest to the left side of my chest. its rather intense. it also happens when i take deep breaths... i have previously had to go to the emergency room and i had an ekg done (which came back normal). i had chest xrays and they were normal as well. just wondering why i'm having these horrible chest pains and if i should be concerned....

thanks

This could be a long thread, my friend, so why not become a member and settle in with us? Just click to join. Painless, I promise, plus you can do private messages that way.

I know that pain, yes, I know that pain, and I STILL get it every now and then, plus that dull toothache thing AJD mentioned. Of course, it should be checked (including the stress test) to rule out the usual suspects. Meanwhile, I'll tell you what I THINK I THINK, based on personal experience.

Muscle pain. Yep. I finally figured it out. Muscle pain. And sometimes there's a pain in the back behind the area of the heart. What brought me to this conclusion was that I could induce the pain by holding a certain posture -position- and then breathing deeply in and out. I could make that pain get worse when I did that. Funny thing, though: there was never any particular exertion involved -it wasn't from a kicker workout, moving heavy stuff, etc. It would often manifest when I had been still -at a desk, for example or watching TV (nasty habit, that). But then, I did begin to associate it with psychological stress of some kind -something I had forgotten to do, or something I dreaded doing, or exposure to a lot of stress of that kind. It still happens every now and then, maybe 3 times a year. And I've learned to just let it go away and take it easy.

I'm not saying that's what's going on with you -it may be something else entirely. The reason I found it remarkable was that the area involved is not one I think of in terms of muscle. No one lifts and carries with the muscles across their heart (well, you actually DO use those muscles, its just that one rarely pays attention to them). So, you can flex a bicep, tricep, etc., and flex your chest muscles -but you don't normally isolate the muscle where that pain is. That's why I would have to sort of controt myself to get to it.

Anyway, in additoon to the stress test and whatever else they cook up for you, see if you can do what I did to get more of a fix on it -and run it by your doc.

I have no doubt there will be other ideas and experiences headed your way here.

Oh -and one more thing: your handle. Marlon Brando DIET? And that would be ...what?
