confused

I am scared to take the meds or go to the doctor because I am scared the meds will change my life. Can someone please explain the meds to me and how they effect u. Im 17 by the way.

Here is what my nurse practitioner said to me when I was really having trouble with a loss and was crying a lot over it.  She put me onto an antidepressant, and said "You won't be any happier about the situation, but you *will* notice you aren't crying all the time."  And she was correct.  Anti-anxiety meds and antidepressants don't put something on top of who you are and change you, or make you feel unreal or disassociated.  They just put a fix on something that isn't working right, so you feel more normal.

I suggest you take them for six weeks, and see if I'm not right.  You can always taper back off of them, but give them a fair trial first.
