cymbalta withdrawal symptoms

After the death of my adult daughter in 2004, I was under doctors care for depression. I was put on Celexa, then in the last year switched to Cymbalta 60mgs. I have in the last 4 months tapered myself off the cymbalta and I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms. I have been two weeks totally off this drug . The dizziness and brain zaps are getting better, but my taste buds are still horrible.  It feels like the front of my tongue has been burnt and it feels like my teeth are coated with rubber.  How long do these withdrawal symptoms last.  I can handle it all, but the taste bud sensation is horrible. If anyone has had this sensation, I would love to hear from you.  If I had known the withdrawal problems of this drug, it would never have passed my lips,

I've been on cybalta orvduloxetine ascots called her for around 18 months for fibromialgia neuropathic pain and severe osteoporosis arthritis pain n supposedly to help depression, once the dose when up to 60mg twice a day, dizziness, extreme fatigue muscle n joint pain, altered taste brain fog, memory problems n a sore mouth n worse of all body sapping sweats n a feel-good being stabbed allover with Sharpe pins while being totally engulfed in a hot cold sweat problems it was supposed to be aleaviating were getting worse, after being fobbed off with you will have to live with it n various other excuses I'm down too 1 30mg every other day. But now this itching sore mouth felling of bring bloody useless n stupid is driving me mad, I'm shattered but can't sleep fibro is as bad as ever n I'm scratching till I bleed n still getting no relief!!! Have a sore mouth with what I was told is geographical tongue it's smooth ten n sore n what ever I eat makes it sore, the only ease I get is ctovwash/ shower with gentle soap/ body wash, then after drying I use baby powder to cool n sooth my skin, I'm using pro biotic yogurt drinks  n drinking slowly holding it in my mouth before swallowing, avoiding very hot drinks by using milk or water too cool them and limiting fizzy drinks, I MUST take pain meds on time and not miss a dose, Irvin in so much pain I'm in tears, I still have days where I itch from head to foot or I'm so sore I can't stand be touched n the slightest bump or knock reduces me to floods of tears because of the pain I'm a carer for my partner my own two adult kids who have medical problems of their own and two autistic step sons, my oldest son has schizophrenic tendencies n I need tickets his moods in case he gets violent other half walks with crutches due to a back injury I have days where I could happily climb into bed n stay there till the next day but I can't by the end of the day I'm exhausted but can't sleep for the duloxetine/cymbalta, but I REFUSE to give up, even tho I have bad days I'm still Here & intend on STAYING here!! Chin up hun, we will get to where we need to be eventually, we are STRONGER than we think we are with whatever put up with, hope the use of baby powder or medicated helps your itching too try the probiotic drinks or yogurts for your tongue/mouth too (by the way I'm Sue I'm 49 the some days feel 94 lol n I'm from the lake district in England )

I have nasty head zaping aches and muscle pains and my lips burn whenever I try to get off it. I can handle 3 days and back on again. Been trying to get off for 3 weeks now. Now I am out of pills and pissed and worried and upset and pissed. Doctor never told me about these kind of side effects.  My eyes hurt and never have head aches.  I feel like I have a whole body flu... yet again.  The 5 flu and it last days and days... til I forced to take meds been  taking 60mg every day but cut back to 2 or 3 days but 3rd day I am messed up.  Cymbalta ***** may help with muscle pains but not worth the headaches and flu withdrawls and burning lips. I am having rash break outs on my ears and chest now too for 3rd time... feel toxins from meds, not sure. Allergies maybe but I am itching bad no meds left.

I don't need medication like this, axiety more now then I had before thinking how to get off this ****.  Pissed

Thanks Alot Doc, I Love Suffering Been on this stuff for 2 1/2 months only!

I have been on 30mg for 1 year.  Decided to go cold turkey to get off but was having the brain zaps for a couple of weeks before.  For me this is the worst part.  Somebody should sue Lilly for ever putting this crap on the market.  They have made my life a living hell.

Good luck to you

Thank you for this info. I have checked it out, and it is not the symptoms I am suffering from, and I have not had any recent dental work. This all started with lowering my dose of Cymbalta.  I have read many of the symptoms of withdrawal from this devil drug, but next to nothing on the effects of ones taste buds.  I will try the vitamin B though, certainly can't hurt.

Unfortunately, the withdrawl symptoms from all psych meds are nasty and varied. It may take weeks for you to re-adjust. Everyone that I know has experienced some different form of hell. Glad the brain zaps and dizziness are getting better. Have you had any dental work lately? Sometime in women of our age there is a problem called burning tongue syndrome. Read about it and see if it matches what you feel. I have it because of dental work as well as having all the risk factors. Hopefully you will feel better soon. For the heck of it, you might try a B complex vitamin supplement. It has helped me somewhat.
