different mgs of xanax

different mgs of xanax

Hi everyone I am going to my phsyciatrist next month and I am going to ask him if he would put me on xanax to take during the day.  I got a couple from my family dr and they have made a world of difference, I am more comftortable in public, I can finally swallow without panicing, and the tightness is my body is much less.   My family dr. gave me 10 0.25mgs xanax and I need to take atleast 3 of them in order for them to work, I have a very high tolerance to most medications.  So my question is could some one please tell me what the different doses that xanax comes in.  Thanks, Peaches

As a current xanax user who is currently weaning off of these, I wouldn't recommend that you rely on xanax for your situation, unless you're only planning to use in the short-term. There are other benzos which might address your situation more effectively.

I'm assuming from what you wrote, that you took 3 - .25 mg. at once - so .75 mg. to feel an effect. The duration of activity  typically only lasts from 4  - 6 hours. How do you feel when they wear off?

You can do a quick search here on the forum for more info. on Xanax and the different strengths that it's available in. But again, based upon what you've written, a longer-acting benzo might be of greater benefit for you, especially if you plan on staying on it. Is your anxiety being caused by a particular situation that is only temporary?

Xanax is highly addicting and a difficult benzo to wean off of when you want to stop taking it. You might want to spend some time reading posts from other users of both xanax as well as other benzos like valium or klonopin so you can do a fair comparison. Be sure to also discuss the various options with your psychiatrist so you're making an informed decision in this next step.

Xanax did help me tremendously at my time of crisis, but it's been incredibly challenging psychologically for me to wean off of. I wish you the very best, and hope you feel better soon...

I just read your profile and understand that you're a recovering heroin addict. I'm sure your psychiatrist will pick the correct benzo for you, particularly based upon your past experience as an addict.

Please be careful...you've worked hard to get to this point....you don't want to end up on another road of addiction and the pain and misery that goes along with it by using the wrong benzo...

My very best to you...

If you read my profile you would see that my phsiciarist has put me on 2mg of klonopin at night along with 60mgs of remeron.  I understand waht you mean that xanax has a short term effect but it does the job when you need it to. when they wear of I am back to square one. I would rather not take it everyday, but it did help with that horrible attack I had the other day.  do you think klonoplin would do the same thing? I mean only when I am having an attack.  And what do you think if I ask my dr to give me 60 klonopins instead of 30 so I could take 1 during the day if needed.  I dont want him to think I am just trying to get a buzz because that is not the case at all.  he does know my background, I have been completely honest with him.  which is unusual for me, but I am at the point where I really want help.  I also have social phobia very bad and the days I took the xanax it was like I could face the world with no problems and I actually felt normal.  Im not sure what to do but I feel if my dr would let me take the klonopin in the morning and at night that might work for me.   I do not want to get addicted to xanax or get them prescribed again because I could easily see myself getting addicted and I feel for everyone who is and believe me I know how bad withdrawls are.  so what do you think.I should do?  I would prefer to try to get something to take to get me through the day because I just can not face the world without anything and it is very depressing.  any advice is good advice, and it makes me feel better just sharing my thoughts,  thanks for listening and I an glad I joined htis community.  Thanks so much for your help, Peaches
