I hope that you take Emma's post and really try to reassure yourself with what she said. You are always looking for reassurance that others with anxiety have had or do have the same symptoms as you. Here you have that....someone who is saying they went thru the EXACT same thing that YOU are going thru...and WHY with anxiety it happens. You need to run with that!
Are you still being treated for anxiety? Any meds? Therapy?
The honest to God truth, base...until you accept that what plagues you is anxiety....you will continue to suffer with these symptoms...and even develop new ones. You simply HAVE to break the cycle. Enough is enough, right?
You are a young, healthy man...you do NOT have a serious, terminal, deadly disease. You've been evaluated umpteen times medically. ACCEPT what the docs are saying and treat the anxiety.
You have to do so, b/c you have a child coming into this world...and you want to be healthy, both in body AND mind when that happens. I know you are prolly stressed about the baby coming...it is a big change...but remember that AFTER the baby comes...the stressors grow...and you have to be able to focus on that precious new life that will depend on YOU. Okay? Plus, you want to be able to enjoy all of the joys that come along with a new baby.
PLEASE please please please stop the cycle now....say to yourself out loud, a million times if you have to..."I HAVE ANXIETY. ANXIETY IS CAUSING ALL OF THESE SCARY SENSATIONS. THERE IS NOTHING MEDICALLY WRONG WITH ME. I HAVE ANXIETY."
I hope you do what it takes....you've been fighting this far too long.
The one in my right calf is constant. It has gotten better as I started taking the supplements but for a long time it went on and one and never stopped. I can see most of them when it happens just looking at that part of my body. Sometimes I can feel this almost like vibration feeling under my skin that I can't see though too. And they never hurt.
but can u see the muscles twitching and do u feel mlittle bubble like feelings in ur body like little muscle spasms that dont hurt they just twich for no reason and have u had a spasms in one spot that never has gone away like in ur calf
Plus, if you had ALS, which is a really progressive disease your muscle twitches symptoms would have progressed to much more serious symptoms over the year you have been having the muscle twitches.
I so understand how you feel, and on bad days I am still convinced/scared I am going to have a seizure. Hang in there!
I can tell you that I know exactly how you feel. What caused my panic attacks get to the point where I literally could not leave my bedroom for a week was muscle twitches. Except instead of thinking I had ALS I was sure I was going to have a seizure. For a long time I was getting muscle twitches so badly. They were mostly in my right side and the one in my calf went all day long. I was getting them in my lips, fingers, butt, stomach, neck ...I think you get the picture. I had called my Dr at nine at night worrying about it, gone to see him a ton of times and he upped my xanax. It has helped. The biggest thing that has helped me though is to try and relax. I lay down and in my head and with my body I start at the top of my head and conciously start to tell myself, each body part is relaxing and as I concentrate on one part of me at a time I realize muscle I am tensing that I was not even aware of.
My dr explained to me that muscle twitches happen in anxiety because you are constantly getting surges of adrenaline and tensing your muscles without even realzing it. When they start to get really bad I lay down and relax each body part one at a time and concentrate on my breathing and block every thought out of my mind. It took awhile, but it really does help. I still get muscle twitches, and somedays I still get them quite often but it HAS gotten better!
Another thing I did just to cover my bases is I started eating one bananna a day for potassium, and taking a calcium and magnesium supplement. Anxiety and the adrenaline surges depletes your body of its natural vitamins and those are the vitamins that can help muscle twitches.
I sitll worry sometimes, but I can say that it has gotten a lot better! Are you taking any medication for your anxiety? For a long time I was addicted to pain pills so I was so hesitant for so long to take my xanax as prescribed but when I finally did it helped so much. Although I am still taking less than prescribed, I take small amounts 4x a day to spread it out a bit. The chances of you having ALS are like .00000000000000000001%. You are 18, and from what I have read on ALS you would need to have muscle weakness, trouble swallowing etc. I hope this helps you.
