does anyone know of any withdrawls from risperdal

by jjmjeep, Jun 16, 2009 07:23PM
Hi I am trying to find out if anyone knows of any withdrawls from risperdal I have been taking 1 mg at night for about a year and a half and I am wanting to get off of it as it is very expensive and I am not working right now. Also I am taking 1mg adivant three times a day and I know that I will have to come off of it slowly as I have become dependent on it. What I was thinking of doing with the risperdal is to take a half mg at night every other night and take 1 mg the other nights and then work my way to one half every night for about a week and then half mg every other night and then maybe three times a week but if this sounds like a stupid plan please let me know.I do not even know if I will have any withdrawls at all. I have missed one night before and was still ok but I dont know how long it take to get out of the system. Sorry this is so long and any info would be great. Thank You

Complex. First of all whatever it is treating will come back. Secondly when I went off it I did get minor withdrawal symptoms (flu like symptoms) but I was transferred to Seroquel. It was bearable but it has to be done under the direction of your psychiatrist with a titration schedule. As for Ativan that's a benzo and if you've built up a tolerance to it you can only discontinue it under your psychiatrist's exact directions. To do otherwise would be physically hazardous. If you have any issue with healthcare coverage you could apply for Medicaid. There are other options as well. You could find out more at your local independent living center:
