does my friend have PERSECUTION COMPLEX ?

does my friend have PERSECUTION COMPLEX ?

I have a friend who in the past year has had alot of issues with her neighbour , being that the neighbour has started many fights and so on with her so she moved out. Ever since the problems started she started getting the idea that the neighbour was stalking, following and annoying her and before she left she had a talk to the neighbour. The neighbour  said no matter were you go the problem will remain and you will only change of address blah blah this affected her massively where ever she moved shes felt as if people hate her and only want to do her bad. She quit  her job because she felt people hated her and wanted to kill her, she hardly goes to shops ONLY when she needs certain items and when we go out shes constantly paranoid that everyone hates her and is against her, she has this thing where she cant see cleaners at a shopping centre walk past with their broom and dustpan clenaing because she thinks that there has been a rumour spread about her throughtout everywhere and people hate her and only wanna harm her. I tried talking to her explaining that she is obsessed and i dont see this occuring anywhere but she argues and insists that im a liar. I need to know what is wrong with her and maby is she does have persecution complex.? i mean does anyone out there seriously think that a rumour can be spread through out a whole state and every one hates you and is against you? cause sometimes i think i could be wrong ? please any help would be appreciated thankyou.

She needs to see a shrink.  Obviously.  She is at the point, as you have said, that her life is in shreds.  If she will listen to you, good. But sounds as tho' she is in her own little world now, and you cannot help her.

The only legal recourse is to have a family member commit her to psch ward for evaluation.  The Baker Act will help with cost.  I assume no family is involved now.

Unfortunately family and close friends rarely can reach and certainly can't control her thought processes.  She needs medication to straighten out her brain: then therapy to help her deal with the paranoia.

To tell her she has a persecution complex isn't going to help: just words she can deny.

Hope she gets help and soon.  This has gone on too long.
