hi  I have very treatment resistant depression and anxiety.  My pdoc and i have been working together to come up with drugs that will help.  Right now, I am on 200 mg lamictal, 150 seraquel at nigh, 1 mg klonopin tid ane 60 mg of celexa.  He has also suggested deplin and omega 3 fish oil with flax seed as apparently they are seeing results with that.  My question is that he has suggested a consultation with another specialist, not sure what he called him, whom he has referred patients to for consultations. Sometimes this new doc uses ect.  Has anyone had experience with ect?  I am pretty scared as I only know what I have seen on the internet about it.

That is generally used when known medications for depression have not worked as a last resort option. I do know one person who said it brought them out of a suicidal state when known medications had failed to treat their depression. Other people have stated they had mixed results. One other option is trans cranial magnetic stimulation which works in a similar manner but has a safer long term side effect profile and has been FDA approved for a number of years. You could ask about that.

Thanks.  If I end up having to go, I will ask about all options.  It's frustrating as I use to be on only one med, for years, and now it's been such a game of switching and ramping, etc.
