effexor and pregnancy

by val11, Nov 30, 2007 02:06PM
I am just 7 weeks pregnant and my family doctor took me off of effexor xr in just 5 days.  I have had horrible withdrawl that i wouldn't have wished on my worst enemy.   I am still having brain shivers.  They are getting less severe, but how long do they last?  I can already feel my panic attacks and anxiety coming back.  Is there anything natural a pregnant woman can do to relax?  I have a 3 and 4 year old at home to take care of as well.

First, congrats on the pregnancy!  That is awfully fast to take you off the Effexor in just 5 days.  How many mg's were you taking a day?  Also, I just want to let you know that I stayed on my Effexor XR at 75 mg's throught my entire pregnancy.  Taking the Effexor outweighed the cons while I was pregnant and I had a healthy 7 lb, 14 oz. baby boy.  He is now 8 months old and healthy as can be.  I would talk to your OB/GYN and see what he/she recommends.  Everyone is different and Doctors have different opinions, but it wouldn't hurt to consult another Dr.  That is just my opinion, of course.  Hope you are feeling better and your pregnancy continues to go well.  If I can answer any other questions for you, please feel free to ask!
