excessive talking

I believe excessive talking in adults and children is a characteristic of anxiety. Does anyone agree? It may be a fact. Could someone chime in on this?

We have that type of family also!!  And same here about some  people being clueless about the anxiety.  And it's so frusterating when they dont want to hear anything about it. "denial" or just uneducated and have no interest.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, that was not my intention. I suffer from anxiety myself. And i know lots of other people that do also, and no they all do not talk excessively. I myself do not talk excessively. I was just asking for opions. I think Dazon50 hit it right on the nose.

Ditto to what Paxiled said.

Some people are just chatty, some people aren't. Some people with anxiety talk a mile a minute, like me, or are very shy and not really talkative, like my little sister. We are completely different people personality wise, but we both suffer with anxiety and panic attacks. We also have super loud, boisterous, talkative people in my family who really have no idea what all this anxiety nonsense is, the lucky ducks. I don't think being excessively talkative has anything to do whatsoever with anxiety.

Either they do or they don't, but you're judging people to have a mental disorder just because they have a trait you don't like.  People are different, that doesn't necessarily make them ill.

I don't know about it being a characteristic but I think it is a response to feeling anxious in certain situations.  I know I can be a chatterbox when I get nervous.  Since I became aware of it, I tell myself it is ok to be silent with others when I am in their presence (that I don't always have to say something).
