finally put weight back on but anxiety is still making it difficult to eat.

finally put weight back on but anxiety is still making it difficult to eat.

Since I weaned off xanax at the beginning of sept I have been really anxious and sick to my stomach all the time. At the worst of it I was down to 104lbs..today I weighed in at 110..still about 8lbs shy of my normal weight but its a start. I still can't eat like I used to. I think about eating and just get nauseated. I've bEen forcing myself to eat though. Its incredibly frustrating because I love going out to eat and making good meals at home but now I'm either too nauseous to eat or can barely make it through and entire bowl of cereal. My gi doc has some tests lined up for me if the antidepressants I'm getting tomm don't fix it. The docs seem to think that there's a link between me stopping the xanax and my onset of nausea and appetite loss. But at least I don't have to be anxious about being severely underweight now! Anyone else deal with crazy symptoms after stopping a med? It makes sense but you know the anxiety routine...I just need some reassurance.

Sometimes I find it difficult to eat and have no appetite, so when this happens to me I drink a green Superfood shake by the brand  Amazing Grass it helps keep my body nourished. Giving your body the right nutrients is important for maintaining a healthy calm body and mind.

i just got told at the dr that im only 107. :( very disappointing. i checked on 2 diff scales yesterday and they both said 110. i did however just get my lexapro today and took my first dose. im crossing my fingers that this will help out.

i'll have to try and find that superfood shake. ive also been told that ensure works really well too.

Sometimes I have a hard time eating when I am really anxious too.  Try eating smaller meals several times throughout the day.  Make sure what you are eating is something that is good for you.  Try fruits, vegtables, nuts and lean proteins.  If like yogurt eat it because that is something that might be easier to get down.

You should start noticing a difference within the next few days.  I hope that you feel better soon.  Good luck....

Thanks. I've been eating cereal, oatmeal, fruits, yogurt, peanutbutter crackers..light but healthy stuff.

Now I'm getting anxious about the lexapro..I don't want to become dependent on it.

I just withdrew from lexapro and the chances of you gaining weight is pretty high from that drug. I actually gained too much weight. I am the kind of person that never gains weight. My ideal weight is 110 and it made me gain 15 pounds in like four months. I am finally off it and now my weight is down to 118.
