has anyone taken risperadol

by Applecore, Oct 04, 2008 08:37AM
I was diagnosed with hashimoto disease (thyroid) and graves disease.  I had anxiety attack and fear and the doctor put me on risperadol to combat the thyroid symptoms while they got my thyroid under control.  It worked great and I was able to function without too much trouble  My thyroid is now in the normal range and the doctor took me off the risperadol (I was having problems with the medication by this time and wanted off).  For the first two weeks I was fine but all of the sudden I felt physically bad and then the next day started with mental fear and panic.  I called the doctor and he said maybe I would have to go back on it for a while longer.  My counselor said we could try cognitive therapy.  My question is has anyone taken risperado and how did you come off of it and how long did it take to get back to normal.  It is my understanding that the risiperado changes the chemicals in you brain.  I donot have schizaphrenia or bipolar disease.  He gave me a very little dose and it did work for my symptoms.  I do not want to go back on that drug ever again.    thanks hoping someone can help.    linda
