help w/ alcohol clonazepam and ambien

by alliebaby, Sep 14, 2009 08:33AM
over the past six months i have become increasingly dependent on all three. on nights that i drink i don't take anything till i wake up early morning and more often than not take 1/2 of .5 clonaz. to relax and get back to sleep. On nights that i don't drink i take ambien 10mg. i find that i can't sleep w/o it. aghhh  The dr. precribed both ambien and clonazepam a while back when i began to have panic attacks and long bouts of insomnia. After therapy and time, i only took both once in a while. I still see a therapist, and take 50mg zoloft. I thought i'd start by putting the cork in the wine bottle. I've been drinking too much because of marital and financial stress.  things are improving and i know i need to stop making excuses. Any advice on steps to follow.

Well, Toots..........you said it better than anyone else could.

Put a cork in it!

The alcohol HAS to go while you're taking these meds, especially on the "hit and miss" schedule you appear to be on.

You said you are still seeing your therapist. Tell him/her exactly what you are doing and let them help you deal with this before you harm yourself.

You're mixing three meds that aren't supposed to be taken with alcohol, let alone with one another.  And did you know alcohol interferes with sleep?  If you stopped drinking so much and took up exercise or meditation, you might find the ambien can go, too, and the Zoloft would have a better chance of working.
