hiv anxiety again

hiv anxiety again

Hi I have ocd and an uncontrollable amount of anxiety which I am getting help for. I have tested negative for hiv after the 3 month mark. After that I accidentally touched blood outside the host thet had probably been there awhile, and had no cuts on my fingers. Then I was using a plastic spoon from a store and noticed a speck of blood that was probably mine. I was feeling great about everything as I was told hiv cannot affect outside its host and now I have like 3 small painless sores on the inside of my cheeks. Does this have anything to do with HIV?

Nothing you have mentioned above is a risk for getting HIV.  We can worry ourselves to death that we weaken our immune systems and next thing you know we are sick.

You said you are getting help for the OCD and uncontrollable anxiety.  Are they addressing your HIV anxiety as well.  You need to know the facts about HIV transmission and I'm not sure that you know them or if you do then you have a significant amount of doubt going on which is also an OCD problem.

Why don't you try this.  Write down on an index card the ways that HIV is transmitted.  When you have these moments of panic which appear to be often, take out the card and read it to yourself.  It will be reassurance that you cannot possible get HIV from the things you are describing.  You are having irrational thoughts.  This is your OCD talking to you.

So just to reiterate...no chance of HIV, talk to your therapist about it, and make a card that you can carry with you to read when you are having problems.

My best....

I would have to agree that counseling and education that both looks at your health anxiety and your fear of HIV.  In my opinion, you also really need to stay focused on treating the source of your anxiety because quite often anxiety can manifest itself in different ways.  In my experience as soon as I convinced myself I was physicallly ok in one area, some other thing would come along that focused on something else, which would start the whole cycle all over again.  Keep us posted!

Thank you very much to both of you. I really started noticing extreme anxiety sometime after my seperation, in which I desperately tried to keep things together and my wife had already moved on. Then my youngest daughter was diagnosed with Molluscum Contagiosum and that totally consumed me, constantly on the internet, looking for cures, dermatologists, and then this fear of hiv and dying. Everything lately seems likea death sentence when logically I know it makes no sense. I will not give up though, I will continue getting help, asking illogical questions so logical people will give me solutions. Again thank you very much to both of you.

Thank you very much for your input. Can I just ask you a few questions again without driving you crazy? The 3 month rapid negative result was conclusive? Since then the so called risks above are the only I have had since I have been so afraid to do anything. do you know if an anti-depressant or amoxicillin could cause a few small painless sores on your cheeks? I would really appreciate anymore input you might have including the true means of HIV transmission, thank you.

A negative test at 3 months is a definite negative.  I'm not a doctor but I don't think that the anti-depressant or the amoxicillin would cause sores on your cheeks.  They are more than likely stress-related.  It is unbelievable how the mind can affect the body.

As far as the HIV transmission goes, there is a wonderful forum on MedHelp, the HIV Anxiety forum, and you can find all the answers to HIV transmission there.

As far as the molluscum contagiosum is concerned, it is very common.  I had it myself as a teenager.  My friends children have had it.  There is nothing to be worried about.  It will resolve itself over time.

My best...

In your last post you said, "I would really appreciate anymore input you might have including the true means of HIV transmission."

Oh, I also wanted to say that merely changing your username does not always hide who you are.

There are three ways to contract HIV.

1) UNPROTECTED INSERTIVE ANAL/VAGINAL SEX WITH AN HIV+ PARTNER

2) SHARING DRUG WORKS (NEEDLES) WITH AN HIV+ PERSON

3) HIV+ MOTHER TO HER UNBORN CHILD

If you are not in any of these groups, you have/had no risk and truely need to move on.

Lack of control over your thoughts, strengthens your anxiety. As negative thoughts get stronger, your anxiety gets stronger too. You need to learn to control your thoughts.

As a matter of fact I didnt change my username, and I am so sorry for having an extreme case of anxiety and looking for some extra help on the issue. I seem to have offended you by my anxiety, as if I am doing this on purpose. I will never ask for anyone's help on here again and thanks for your time.

There are three ways to contract HIV.

If you are not in any of the groups, you have/had no risk and truly need to move on is good advice. There is no purpose in spending your time wondering if you have a disease that is impossible to transmit, when there are so many others that you can catch and don't because of the law of averages.

I love how I continue to negative comments from certain people. Anxiety, Fear and Panic prevent me from just simply moving on. I wouldn't be here if I could just simply move on, thank you to the individuals on here who have been educational and compassionate and not simply said "Move On".

Wel the science has proven that you do not have it. You keep writing here that you think you have it. Who knows more about science, the scientists or you?
