hormonal anxiety

I started having panic attacks 4mths. ago (never had one before) so I saw my PCP and he put me on 20 mg. of Paxil. Keep in mind I have always been very healthy no med. problems ever.After starting Paxil my attacks did not improve,so my PCP referred me to an Endocrinologist who after blood test (FSH LEVEL OF 54 I AM 46 YRS. OLD)confirmed that I had experienced severe symptoms due to" Estrogen Crash".
My Periods were light and coming every 4 months.She said after 3 months or so I could wean of the Paxil,here I am .I am down to 2 1/2 mg. and am experiencing anxiety again although not as severe.My question is,aren't the hormones suppose to take away the symptoms because my estrogen is being replaced? Please help,I don't ever want to feel like I had before again,it frightens me.

Hi,

One lady I know stated that sometimes she was estrogen predominant and adding more estrogen causes her to have anxiety and panic attack Your level of estrogen  probably fluctuates to the high side  so being on more estrogen can cause anxiety or panic attack.  You are at perimenopausal stage and your hormone still fluctuates a lot. One blood test does not really indicate you estrogen stays that way.
Hope this helps.

Good luck.

Hi;

   It seems well to see a Gynecologist. I think there's another to add for HRT other that Estrogen.
