how can a convince my Dr

Well, first of all I have GAD, and it flared up to a extreme in the late fall.
I was in and out of the ER, and finally got into our local...poor peoples clinic and got to see a Dr. well a Nurse practitioner.
She prescribed me Prozac 20 mgs, and Klonopin 1mgs "as needed"
I knew already that Klonopin was not a as needed medicine because my Mom was on it for 3 years before she passed away, and she was a nurse also so she knew allot about meds.

Anyways, I took my Klonopin the way my Dr prescribed "mainly at night for sleep" but was having bad days, and just wasnt good, Plus all the brake in side effects from the Prozac.

I started to take my Klonopin as lower doses 1/4 mg in the morning, 1/4 mg at night, and worked great, and was feeling great like that, I actually got the dose to a working 3/8s mg which is even lower! Sometimes only a 1/4
Now I went into my Dr yesterday to get my Prescriptions refilled, and she said she dont want me on it..bla bla bla, she didnt like the fact that I knew more about it then her, And I hate to toot my own horn, but did, and showed her that.
And she cant understand that "if the prozacs working, why do you need klonopin" and I told her, the prozac works, but The combo of both a low maintenance  dose  of Klonopin "which is why its made" and the Prozac are great together and actually working together.
All she wanted to do is up my dose of prozac, and said "we can try effexor" and all of that. I told her Im not a lab experiment, and why fix what isnt broken?
I believe I need a different Dr, mainly because she didnt even know Klonopin wasnt a "as needed" benzodiazapine.
She isnt listening to me, and she didnt even use the right medical jargon for Klonopin, she called it diazepram, which anyone with any kind of knowledge knows thats Valium, lol

Why is it when people actually need a medicine, there treated like drug addicts, and people who dont need anything go in, complain about a hurt finger, and get enough meds to put down a horse?
How should I find a proper Dr?

And this was all after I told her I was starting effective management of anxiety classes in Feb.
My cousin gos to the same place, and she gets a DR and he prescribed her just about anything she wants, she has the same thing, and had a stroke because of the anxiety, and "shes only 24" and he basically gave her Xanax for 3 years, and told her if she ever needed, or wanted to try any other kind for her to just ask?????????

lol, my friend was making fun of me, I only took 1/8 mg morning and 1/8 mg in the afternoon, sometimes a extra 1/8 in afternoon, but rarely. Im pretty sensitive to meds "it only takes a little
It was actually less then the Dr prescribed in the first place.
I know totally about the differences of anti anxiety and anti depressants, problem is, the wannabe Dr doesnt.
Yes, I think it is in order, I havent seen anyone get so much therapeutic reactions off such a low dose as I have.

And I dont think Im depressed either which kinda makes me wonder if antidepressants are right for me.
They stimulate the brain, I dont think I need more stimulation

They put me on paxil first, and THAT WAS H3LL!!!
And the prozac at first made me grind my teeth so bad, I could hardly talk.
As for the klonopin, it did what it was supposed to do, with basically no side effects.
That BS about Klonopin can cause impairment to everyone is a load.
Ive actually found myself remembering more, and learning easier.....
Yeah Im addicted...to feeling normal again, lol

How "huge" is the dose you are taking (This is for the Klonopin, right)?. even 5-6 mgs. is relatively low, depeding on anxiety. And one thing I can guarantee is you can take any depression meds with anxiety meds....they are 2 different boats on different lakes. The key really is to not take so many meds you don't know what is working and what is not.
Just going by what you are saying, a different doc sounds like is in order.

She said I red flagged her because I asked for Klonopin "on top of my prozac too"
Does the same rule apply when I have a infection and ask for antibiotics? Am I looking to abuse those too?
Or how about when a diabetic asks for there insulin? no of course not.

I even asked her about the buspar too, just because and she refused that????
Thats not even a narcotic, what the heck??
She gave me, Atarax HAHAHA the same stuff the first Dr gave me, and did nothing, and I told her that.
Thanks Doc, "or should I say wannabe Doc" for the antihistamine, maybe Ill need it in the spring.
Also, her knowing that I take Klonopin, and that I might Have a few left, never said anything about the SEVERE interactions between  antihistamine and benzodiazapines, like DEATH!

And to top it off, she said "I know what your going through, my 2 sons have ADD, ones on ADDERAL and ones on ridalin, and it was hard for them at first too"?????
THEN SHE KNOWS SOMETIMES A PERSON NEEDS A "narcotic" FOR MEDICINE.
I totally agree with the abusing part and Klonopin too, I dont see how people could really abuse them, it possess less of a sedative effect, apposed to a calming effect.
And has WAY LESS POTENTIAL then 99% of the others to gain tolerance and severe withdraw"
She also said, "benzos arent usually prescribed long term" YEAH, FOR PEOPLE WITH NORMAL SPIRTS OF ANXIETY, Try GAD and constant 24/7 shaking, Dp's Dr's not breathing, pains everywhere, not sleeping, and feeling like your going to loose it, then come talk to me.
I see allot of people with GAD and severe anxiety be put on Klonopin "and Valium" for longer periods of time, in fact thats why they are better because they are more approved for that.
I just hate being treated like a addict, when if they look in my file, ALL THE TIMES  turned down any other narcotic they wanted to prescribe me "vics, Tylenol and codiene"
Im not out to get high, I HATE DRUGS I lost 2 people in my life because of them.
BUT I DO LOVE FEELING NORMAL AGAIN "or close too" AND ITS NOT A DRUG FOR A PERSON WHO NEEDS IT!
Just like her sons with Adderal and all of that.
I have been trying to find a REAL doctor who cares and understands, my bestfriend knows what Im going through, similar experience, he finally had to break down, and just pay 225.00 every 3 months to see him, because he is actually a Doctor.
I dont even get a buzz or anything from the Klonopin, If anything, I get more of a "high" from the friggin prozac, sometimes I feel like I cant do anything from taking it.
Ugg, just frustrated and thanking God I went there before I actually ran out, because Id see myself in the ER.
And what ***** the most, is that everything is finally starting to get back to "normal" and they wanna go fix something that isnt broke.
My friend laughed at me when I told him how much I take, he was like "woah you better watch out from that huge dose" playing with me about how low I made it, and how it actually worked that low.

Prozac for Anxiety??? Of course I'm no doctor, and generally helping depression lowers anxiety and visa versa, but there are medications for each. The lowest form of med I know of is Buspar for GAD, to a ton of new meds for anxiety. I can tell you I've had Klonopin for over 15 years, and it's the only thing that has worked. Perhaps the "as needed" means that you can lower or raise your doses by a 1/2mg or so, depending how you feel. It's not an easy med to abuse because it simply will put you to sleep (No fun for anyone looking for a high on it).

As far as the Doc, if it's as bad as you say every time you deal with yours, you need to find a good one, and really you don't have to go much further then a family doc. They're not psychiatrists, but try finding a Psych who will actually take much time to listen. As far as the med you need, be assertive and tell them what you want as well. Sometimes, they are willing to listen, especially if you already have a layman's knowledge of what works or may work best.

As I said, there are plenty of anti-anxiety meds. Klonopin worked the best out of 10 I tried. As long as the wheels stay on the car, I ain't gonna change'em.

Forgot to mention this.
When she was giving me her excuses, I told her That I understand that she didnt want to create a addict, or whatever and her exact words were "well its not exactly that" then she went on about how there evaluated, and how she could loose her job.

So that tells me she dont give a **** about me, just her job, and shes only thinking of that.

also, how does a person get a good family Dr?
