Agreed. Klonopin worked great for me. I felt better a few hours after my first .5mg tablet. I then took one .5 mg tablet a day and had fantastic results. It was also not bad coming off of it either. Maybe because my dose was low. Irregardless, I highly advise klonopin- great drug!
Yes, Klonopin does work also with a "as needed" basis, but is more therapeutic to be taken B.I.D
Its also much better on the body compared to allot of other benzos.
Ive said it before, and I'll say it again, Im a strong supporter or Klonopin, and believe it is a wonderful medicine for those of us who NEED it.
Allot of people who dont need it, end up abusing it, and we all know where that leads
Klonopin will work on an as needed basis, just not as quickly. I think it depends on the anxiety attack or panic attacks you are having. You don't get the quick ups and downs with it either. I take it daily because I worry about the next panic attack too much.
In answer to your query regarding alprazolam, if taken at onset of anxiety/panic attack, symptoms start to subside in approximately 30 minutes.
there is a difference on the 2.
Alprazolam is a shorter acting benzo only for occasional "as needed" use
Clonazepam is a long lasting benzo that will take about 2 weeks to achieve a steady state in a normal plasma level, then preventing anxiety, and its symptoms.
really benzos shouldnt be used for a long duration but Clonazapam "klonopin" is one of the benzos that has been approved for long term use, because of its half life, a person has a lower chance of gaining tolerance, and is less likely to be abused compared to the other benzos because one only has to take it twice a day at 12 hour intervals to achieve therapeutic levels.
I wrote a article on it on ehow
