how to stay active in your social circle

I am taking klonopin and lexapro for my anxiety of which both seem to be working.  However, after I started these medsa, I began to slowly withdrawal from my friends because I enjoyed having a few drinks on wekkends with them and now when I go out with them I feel out of place or just don't seem to be having a good time.  I really would like to get off these meds and just learn to deal with them and make them go away as I did before.  Or go on a med where it's sfae to have a few drinks so I can feel like I didn't lose my normalacy once in a while!

All meds prohibit alcohol, or at least too much.  But if you need to drink to have a good time, you know what the problem is.  Your friends probably don't care.  As to getting off the meds, how debilitating was your disorder?  If seriously and the meds are helping, I'd think you'd be happy.  If not that debilitating, then you should have tried therapy first or something more natural and gentle.  The meds won't cure you, they'll only suppress symptoms.  I've never found a cure, but they keep telling me the only cure is you curing yourself, usually through therapy.

I agree with Paxiled that meds are not the cure all for anxiety.  I am a proponent for them, but only when combined with talk therapy.  Gaining the long term knowledge to confront this is extremely important in my opinion.

One always has to weigh the benefits vs. cost of medications.  If you are better with them right now I would have to agree your friends are your friends regardless if you drink or not....keep us posted!
