is klanopin a bad pill to take for anxiety?

my docter prescribed me klonopin about 5weeks ago and have been taking them the way she tells  me to, see gives me the 1mg twice a day. they last for 12hours and one day i waited 20 hours befor i took another one because after i started taking it i seen all the withdrawl (withdrawal) effects everyone was going through that had been on this medication, but anyway when i waited a 20 hours to take it i got this nervous feeling in my chest. which i was not getting this before i started taking the klonopin i was just having fast heart rate and every docter told me it was anxiety which i still dont think it is. but anyway i called my docter and told her how i was getting the scary feeling in my chest and i wasnt getting  this befor, she told me to start taking .5 in the morning and in the evening for a week and go down from there. then she said she would have the docter call me back. the docter told me she wanted me to start taking the 1mg three times a day instead of twice, i was like the nurse you now told me to tapper myself off of this it only happens when i dont take it when i should. she was like weel its your decisson do whatever you want. and she called in my medication the 1mg and the label said three times a day but i have only been taking it twice a day and am now trying to take .5 but i can only do that for about two days then i get the chest feeling again and have to take a whole one. does anyone know anything about this medication. im stuck between a rock and a hard place. what should i do please let me know
thanx in advance

Klonopin can work well for anxiety and panic attacks and the funny feelings in the chest, but it can also be addicting, and sooner or later - even if you find relief at 1 mg three times a day - it's going to lose its effectiveness.  If you are not comfortable taking that much Klonopin, or if this drug is just not working for you, and/or if you feel your doctor is not listening to you (and making comments like "well, it's your choice do whatever you want to do"  is really not the best of bedside manners for the anxious patient)  considering switching doctors is an option.  Also, you might want to inquire about low-dose betablockers for your anxiety.   They help with the fast heart rate and work very well in some patients suffering from panic / anxiety disorders.  Best of luck.

Klonopin may not be the right medication for you because it seems that the very thought of taking it increases your anxiety.  The one thing I can tell you is that Klonopin is a very safe medication.  I've had patients who have taken Klonopin for over 15 years and it has not lost its effectiveness, nor did they have to increase their dosage for it to remain effective.   The truth is that benzodiazipine therapy is not for everyone and over time people who take benzodiazipine drugs will develop a dependency on that drug and that can be problematic for some patients.  When you stop taking the medication you have to do a slow taper from your dose and adjust down slowly until you are finally off the medication completely.  It is not easy, it can be difficult for some people, but how easy is it living with your anxiety?

Your doctor was correct.  You have to decide between the anxiety and the medications that can help you to control your anxiety.  Nobody can make that decision for you.
