While clonazepam does list drowiness as a known side effect, another side effect is insomnia. In poker that's known as a "push." One cancels out the other. There may be  people who have used it as a sleep aid, but I think there are far better options out there for insomnia. You might want to look into getting a sleep study done as to why you can't sleep........it could be a physical problem.
I'd suggest a talk with your doctor about your options.

I take kolonpin 0.5mg.x2 for over 7 years. For me it only works on my anxiety. I take 2 one mg. of melatoin about twenty mins. b-4 bed time.I am bi-polar so I tend to get amped up in the evenings. If this is something your podc. wants you on and other problems have been ruled out, do a little more research about how hard would it be to come off of. Watch having your mgs. raised too often, low doses can be rather harmless but higher levels have caused some to become dependant. Best wishes

I have taken Klonopin on occasion for the last 4-5 yrs.  I mainly take it for anxiety/panic attacks, but I do sometimes take it at night b4 bed to help with sleep.  I have found, that sometimes when I take it, I would sleep good for about 4-5 hours and then awaken and not be able to sleep for a couple hours.  For the most part, Klonopin has worked well for me or has been a "crutch" to help with the anxiety.
