knot in my stomach all the time

I am new to this forum but I can see it is where I should be.   For about three weeks to a month I have had severe anxiety.  It feels like there is a hole in my stomach or "butterflies" .  I do have a very stressful life.  I am married, have two children, and take care of my disabled father who has lived with us for ten years.  Can someone please explain what this feeling is and what could be causing it?  It has made me so sick to my stomach all weekend.  I am very depressed right now and having high anxiety.  I am going to see my gp sometime this week.  Does anyone else get this feeling though?  And as crazy as this seems, it almost feels like my body is tingling during this (sound crazy?)
Anyway, any thoughts or opinions would be helpful.

You do have a lot of familial responsibility!  I am glad you will be seeing your gp this week.

The butterflies and tingling might be symptoms of an anxiety or panic episode.  Your doctor can assess the stomach difficulties.  Be sure you tell him or her what you have us.

Have you ever been seen by a psychiatrist for depression and anxiety?  You use the terms so I am wondering if you have been diagnosed by a doctor.

Anxiety can manifest in a multitude of ways.  Stomach issues are big.  Tingling or trembling all over another symptom as well.

As a veteran of the anxiety wars (30 yrs) I feel it is quite possible your distress is caused by anxiety.  Depression will follow unrelieved anxiety.  There are meds that help with both, but first rule out physical problems.     Keep us posted on your progress.

Hi.  I have suffered from anxiety, as well as depression, for years.  I go to a therapist as well as a psychiatrist.  My anxiety begins when I wake up, I can tell you it is horrible.  I get a pit in the chest and a pit in my stomach.  Thank God they usually go away.  I am on meds to help control it.  I would recommend what 29 silly girl said.  I would start with a psychiatrist for an evaluation and go from there.  Meds made be useful.  You also have a lot on your plate.  Good luck.
