it sounds like you may be having heart palputations i get them it feels like your heart skips a beat like a thud. it is a side effect of anxiety and is not life threatning. Chest pains are a side effect of anxiety and strees also. Is this what you feel?

I have chest pain as I am typing right now! And palpitations.  I have PVCs - pre-ventricular contractions - which feels like your heart is stopping just for a split second.  It takes your breath a little and makes you feel a bit weak.  I have had every cardiologist and cardio test and they are all normal.  Since I was 14 (now 31) I have had these.  I am told by every cardiologist that they are benign, not harmful.  If these are what you are having, then you are fine - just anxious like the rest of us.  You really need to have a cardio check you out though to settle the issue and to ease your mind.  I take Toprol now if mine get bad and it totally helps the chest pain and PVCs.  Go to the doc and get it settled once and for all that you are okay.  You'll feel better.  The more you stress about it the worse it will get.  Try not to focus on it.  Do some deep breathing (breathe down in your belly, not up in your shoulders)  I also avoid caffeine and big meals.  Take care and calm down the best you can.

I use to get pain on left side of the chest very often. The pain was like a missed heart beat and felt very uneasy and thought definately there is something wrong with my heart. I still get this sometimes with or without any stress out of the blue. From my experience  I think if you take anti-depressant it will reduce these chest pain, missed heart beat and palpitation quite a bit as it caused by anxiety disorder. But you should consult a psychiatrist on that.
The symptoms of heart attack and anxiety are very similar. But the major difference is that if all your medical tests are fine than it cannot be a heart attack specially if you are young. If God forbid you do get a heart attack the pain will keep increasing and become unbearble and you will know it.
During the heart attack the body has less oxygen and during anxiety attacks the body has too much oxygen. That is why when you breath into the paper bag when you have panic attack you start to feel better.
You can take any anti anxity drug for immediate relieve to lower the chest pain become calm, but consult the doctor first.
One more thing during the day and  when you become anxious try the breathing exercise. Make sure you do this way because I use to do the wrong way and instead of relaxing I increased the anxiety.
You should inhale slowly through your nose for as long as you can inhale than pause there for as long as you can than slowly exhale through your purssed lips like you are whisling and exhale as long as you can. Then pause and inhale again and repeat this for 5 minutes and your anxiety and blood circulation will calm down. You should could in your mind 1001, 1002, 1003.... while inhaling and exhaling. In the begining you will breath fast but after few days you will see that duration of inhaling and exhaling increases. By doing this you will balance the oxygen and carban dioxide in your body. Because anxiety happens because of immbalance of the both.
I hope it helps.

I get heart palpitations frequently and thery are exactly as you describe and, yes, I believe it is ALL anxiety related.  It feels like the heart skips a beat as the above post suggested. I get it mostly when I'm lying down and thinking "too much." When I get up and distract my anxiety, they go away.

Hope this helps to know that others have the same symptoms.  My very best to you.........

While I agree with the other posters that this could very well be anxiety related, it is also possible you have a serious underlying problem.  You need to go to the doctor to rule out the later out.

That is the nature of this beastly disease.  You absolutely have to rule out actual medical problems before you rsign yourself to the fact that it is anxiety.  Lots of money spent ruling out medical conditions, but it must be done - aaarrrggghhh...........

Best health to all................

I agree with all the post sounds like heart palpitations, I have them and I also suffer from severe health anxiety. They are so VERY scary and make you feel like you are to kill over at any moments. I have had them for 8 years there is allot of info on palpitaions on the net and here as well.My docs say they wont kill you. not to worry.... easy said then done. I certainly share in your fears, go see your doc and I am sure they will say you will be just fine. I cant tell why  these start from out of the blue as I never had them prior to 8 yrs ago, though anxiety & stress is a MAJOR factor! You take care, try and not freak out, I know believe me!!!!! it is not easy but if you try not to freak out when it happens it passes much faster!  we all here understand and share in your fears.. keep posted God bless, and take care

What is a good anxiety med?  How can drugs like Cymbalta treat depression and anxiety at the same time?  I am searching for that med that does not cause severe side effects.  Right now I would rather deal with my anxiety than the side effects of the meds.
