lorazapam and breastfeeding

I've recently been prescribed lorazapam, but am still breastfeeing my child once a night, just before bed.  My doc says it's okay for me to take after I've fed for the night, but I worry about it remaining in my system when it comes around to bedtime the following day.  I hear lorazapam has a fairly short half-life, but I want to double, and triple check before I do anything that may effect my baby.

Namaste,

The half-life of Lorezapam(Ativan) is 10-20 hours, so as you described your situation you should not have any problems.

I'd also have some confidence in your doctor because I'm sure he would not want to jeopardize the health of your baby or you.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have additional questions.

It can cross over into breast milk.  I had this situation arise when I was breastfeeding my daughter, and the pediatrician had me pump about 3 hours after I took the medication and trash my milk.  I was also using formula as supplementation though.  I hope this helps and PM me if you have any other questions!
