lost appetite, hands shaking with meds

Hi all, so Ive mentioned here before about my current battle with medications, ive tried and not succeeded with any mainly because my anxiety and depression were still there after months of use

My new psych recently put me on Sertralin, been on 100mg for about 3 weeks now. First two weeks i couldnt sleep a wink, even with trazadone, i wanted an earlier appointment but he just told me over the phone to keep on it and just not increase the dose,

Now, im FINALLY able to fall asleep for about 4-7 hours, varies per day. (If its a school day my anxiety is high and I will only sleep 4 hours, weekends 7 hours.
Also, my appetite has gone out the window. I still eat 3 meals, but i force myself. Thing is, before the medication I was always craving comfort food, i ate a lot, and I am over weight for my age due to the fact i was overeating junk, i believe to ease my depression, So does the sign that i now have lower appetite mean that the meds are working??
I've lost about 6-7 pounds.

Finally, even thought it might be helping my depression, my main problem is anxiety and I still think the meds make it worse., For instance,my hands are constantly shaking. In class people are starting to stare and ask, they must think im on crack or somehing. I just tell them my hands always shake, but really Its very noticable.

Any advice would be appreciated, I keep trying to get earlier appts but they tell me "if someone cancels we will call you"

It is really great that it is helping for some things but not the anxiety. It was alot of trial and error before they finally got me on a good mix of medications that help. I know its a wait to see your doctor but keep pushing them to get in sooner and hopefully he can shed some light on why you are still feeling anxious. I do know that some meds have that side effect for a few weeks when you start taking them but I dont know if the one you are on is one of them. Good Luck I hope you are able to get it sorted out soon

A common side effect is insomnia. It also causes stomach upsets. Surf the net for details.

its great that you can now sleep however, perhaps you need to discuss with your dr about changing medication.          With mefd-its  trial and error-  it takes time to find the correct one.  Sometimes the dosage needs to be altered

Its no fun having the anxiety and the shaking of hands is a problem that needs to be addressed.

I am on effexor---it helps a lot with depression and anxiety
Bestof luck
