Was it a total hysty or did they leave your ovaries? If they did, that would explain the delay of any menopausal symptoms, but 46 is a tad early for full blown menopause, not unheard of, but most women are still in the perimenopause stage at 46.
Deciding whether or not to go on HRT is a very difficult and personal decision and one that needs to be made with the help of your OB/GYN and a great deal of research on your part.
That your blood results were normal is great, but since I am not a doctor, I can't begin to tell you if that means you DON'T need HRT or that you DO need antidepressants.
Anxiety and panic are often miserable side effects of menopause. Some women have their first panic attack around this time and others find that their panic goes away........did you have anxiety before your hysty?
The bottom line is that I can't tell you what you should or shouldn't do. You need to see your doctor and have a good long talk about what's going on.
There IS an answer and there IS help.........you just need to get it from the right source, which is your doc.
I wish you the best of luck during this wonderful but often trying transition.
Please let us know what you find out, OK?
Peace

Thanks for sharing that info, I hadn't had bad anxiety since the eightys and am suddenly
getting all those awful feelings again when I thought that I was over that. I am in full blown menopause and I never knew that was a symtom! aheart
can i say yes yes yes to anxiety and a hysty, went throught it myself , my mom having it really bad she had surgery two years ago and been anxiety ever since so yes it does come with it, good luck.
Many women get anxiety w menopause, I had a bso 3 weeks ago and so far only medium night sweats (its not as severe as some peoples sound)
Im curious though yousaid you discontinued prozac,,did you slowly wean yourself off or just stop cold turkey....it is possible in either case (but especially if you did not stop slowly) that being off prozac is not the right choice for you at this time.
My dr says that one thing that would help me w meno, is if my symptoms get too bad he would increase my paxil.
Dont know what to tell ya about hrt. personally Im gonna take it . Im only 46 and I already have arthritis is spine and neck,,hrt is proven good for the bones, most drs say its good for heart,,,but it does increase risk of breast cancer,
