mental illness

I would like for anyone to answer my question: I've been taking Xanax for over 13 yrs & I do have panic attacks.
So, I wonder does this come under mental illness??

Yes how much do you take and Don't let anyone scare you about taking xanax, it is great for PA,  believe me I know, but for 13 years why are you not on a longer lasting medication? also how often do you take xanax? seeing someone for your PA?

Well, are you ill?

If you can avoid physical dependency (withdrawal symptoms, memory loss, etc) you have a solution to a problem.

If you have a doctor, he or she can tell you if you have an illness or symptoms of an illness.

Finally, should it matter?

If you are still having panic attacks, then why are you still taking the Xanax, it obviously isnt working unless your dr put you on it for another reason.
You would have to ask your dr the reason.
And yes Panick Attacks are a form of mental illness.

Like any drug your body has become used to that ammount of xanax which is why when i had it i only took it when I had a panic attack. It saves the withdrawls and dependancy on the drug. I don't take meds anymore because i ran out so I am **** outta luck till i get to go to a dr again...in january. -.-

They either need to up the dose then

It is more a lifestyle induced mental illness that something else you are born with and cannot cure.

Anxiety is curable it requires a change in your lifestyle, a different way to approach things, a radical mind shift and most important of all control of your mind.

You can learn to control your mind by introducing yourself to meditation, getting knowledge about the mind itself or the brain and how it works, physical activity and healthy diet.

It takes time and patience but everyone can do it and what's happening in your brain is totally reversible by taking the right choice and chosing a right lifestyle.

Try documenting yourself on the benefits of healthy eating and physical activity and meditation.

I will end this by asking you a question: have you ever seen a tibetan monk having panic attacks or anything else? New beliefs in biology today and now starting to get proven by science are mind can have a significant impact on your biology and modern lifestyle and old newtonian thinking now well implemented in western medicine is not good and i swear it's gonna change soon. But for now if you want to be healthy you can start by being more active, eat well ( preferably biological food with no additive and concervation agents) and deep breathing exercises might help alot. By training your respiratory system you improve oxygen distribution in the whole body which improves general health and mind.

If you have any questions don't hesitate.

Best regards,
M4
