It's something about transitions and probably the adrenaline rush you get to move you in the morning. I know any transition state is a wide open opportunity for panic to strike. Most of my more severe panic attacks had come when I was in deep thought or focused and transitioned quickly. I would go with the whole adrenaline / transition idea.
No problem. I remember talking about my morning anxiety attacks and how horrible they were. It was like as soon as I would wake up I was uber-alert and instantly freaking out. I am currently on Paxil, which has worked wonderfully for me. I have also taken Zoloft and Lexapro. Keep in mind that medications work differently for different people, so what works for me might not work for you as well. I had to 'play' around with a few different ones until I found what worked for me. I have little to no anxiety now. To me, the fact that you are still consistently having your morning anxiety means that you need to reevaluate either your dosage or your type of medication, with your doctor of course!
Good luck!
Mornings are tough for me too, I figure in that pre waking state my mnd must be going in overdrive. I meditate and then immediately do my exercise to a Ricahrd Simmons video lol. My kids think I am wack but so be it it really helps start my day better. I am on meds but am rarely free from chronic anxiety although getting better! To learn how the mind functions helps me alot but probably not for everyone. To see the thinking process in a scientific as well as spiritual way seems to be key as I am beginning to feel at peace more often. I am not willing to play with meds anymore after years of trying different ones so am trying a more cognitive approach hoping it will last for the long run. It is definately making me happier if not completely free from anxiety. More accepting of the hand I was dealt I guess.
thanks beth can u tell me what meds your on please?
I used to suffer from terrible morning anxiety. Nearly every morning when I would wake up, I would be in a panic. Once my medication started working for me, I have done much better. One thing that did help me, was getting up earlier and starting my day out in a more relaxed way. I would set my alarm much earlier than I needed to get up. Turn it off and sort of lay in bed to take my time. I would then do something I enjoy, like drinking coffee and reading. Taking my time getting ready would really help me. Try this, but I would also recommend making talking to your doctor about a change in your meds. If you are on a good medication that works well for you, you shouldn't really have any anxiety.
Best of luck :)
