my story, and i cant let this go!

I am a 28 year old male. Ever sense my late teens, i been very sexually active, meeting women from the net, sex workers, u name it. I've had alot of partners to say the least. I was also ignorant to not get tested at all, which is stupid on my part. I wont give out a # of partners, but we'll just say.. more than 10,lol. With 6 women, a condom was not used, everyone else, i had protected sex. In fact, the last time i had sex was around dec 2008, with protection. Finnally in april 2009, i said to myself "what the hell am i doing???" I gotta get tested, my health is hanging in the balance. I knew right then, i was going to test positive for hiv or another std. On april 24th 2009, i finally got tested for hiv and it was negative! It was a rapid test where they pricked ur finger and got results 15 min later. I came back ok on other std tests.. But for hiv, i cant let this go! Im either dumbfounded by the results or i still feel that i have it...Im in costant fear that the next time i get tested, it'll be a diff result!! I cant eat! Should i get tested again?  Or try to move on with maybe seeing a therapist??

No. Just count your lucky stars and use that other head of yours more often in future. Call it a let off. The more you want to think about it the more of an issue it will become. So leave it be. Negative it was. Luck of the gods.

I think you should trust the result. The new 15 minute test for HIV has pretty high reliability. They detect antigenes(the virus itself )and not only the antibodies.
It would, statistically, be a higher risk for another sexually transmitted disease, which you tested negative for!
Take another test to be absolutely sure. For the peace of mind. Or talk to your GP and ask what s/he thinks.

Best wishes,
Nora

If your test was 3 months after your last episode of unprotected sex, then you can celebrate your conclusive result.  You're surprised, but the facts are, HIV is NOT an easy disease to get, and is very hard to transmit.  It's a very weak virus, and less people out there are infected than one would think.

HOWEVER, it is NEVER worth it to take those kinds of chances b/c the cold hard reality of the matter is...you COULD have been infected, with only ONE exposure.  Not common, but it happens.  One moment of passion isn't worth a lifetime of meds, and dealing with a chronic illness.

Consider this a HUGE wake up call and thank your lucky stars.  From here on out...insist upon condoms for every episode of vaginal or anal sex.
