need clear answer, please

by jojled, Jun 08, 2007 12:00AM
i really need to know if unintentional weight loss can be from anxiety. has anyone  lost weight while eating NORMAL? the only examples i find are weight loss from not eating due to stress.  i eat just as much as always.  i'm just losing weight without vomiting, diarrhea, nausea or anything. i still have an appetite.  i have been to the doctor, but i have to wait another 3 months for more blood work.  i'm worried about hiv/hepatitis through occupational exposure.  my risk is really low so i think all my symptoms (in earlier post) are from stress, but i can't explain away the weight loss. can anyone please, please help by telling me if they know of anyone SPECIFICALLY losing weight while eating normal amounts?

I responded to your other post and I have been through the exact same thing. The weight loss is because your nerves probably have you going 100 miles an hour and not relaxing. Read the response.

Yes, Anxiety and stress can make you lose wait.  I have anxiety for 13 years and My weight is up and down all the time.  Are you under weight. Im under weight but my doctor knows why my weight is like this cause I stress and worried too much. If you are really concern about losing weight  Talk to your doctor about it. I did and they told me they would only worry if I lose too much weight.

thanks to you both.  from the previous post i got the impression that other's weight loss was from lack of appetite, etc.  i guess that's why i needed to leave no doubt about my question with a re-post.  it's reassuring to know others have dropped weight just from worrying! thanks.  i guess a body can use a lot of energy worrying, even if physical activity is at a minimum.

Oh ya it's true you worry so much you can lose weight Im telling you anxiety affects on your body so much. It's terrible.  Don't worry you are going to be ok. I should take the advise for myself to don't worry. (LOL)

i am going through the same thing...at first i didnt notice they weight loss(15lbs)...when i did notice it i freaked out began having bad anxiety attacks and lost(15 more lbs)...been to the doc many times, blood work comes back normal...to be honest my initial weight loss could have been due to smoking (pot and cigs) all the time, i have a full physical...im praying for everything to be fine and this is truly just stress/anxiety related...i wish u the best of luck

Hey there, yeh i think its possible it could be from anxiety. I am suffering really bad at the moment, i seem to eat ok but im down to 7 stone now, so very underweight.
Try not to stress too much, i know thats hard though.

ANXIETY = BURNING FOOD FAST!

It's totally correct. Get the blood work just to get a peace of mind. But anxiety does increase your heart rate and that burns calories faster.

I'll drop a few pounds when I'm having anxiety... and ill still make myself eat...

Dont sweat it. =)
