Hey, Thanks for giving us the specifics, and an update. I'll have to look into getting kratom, the herb that has helped you with anxiety/sleep. Sounds good.
Hear you on the expense of therapy. That is my problem too, now that I am on Medicare and have lost mental health benefits. Luckily, I can see one at the cancer hospital for no charge as long as I am seeing a doctor there.
Still, talking to us here and reading self-help books and listening to cds, anything that relaxes or gives you tips on how to manage anxiety is beneficial.
No comment on the bf: LOL. Take care.
You may be having bad reactions from not taking your meds. Even going off schedule from taking your meds just a little can cause serious consequences when it comes to some anti-depressants. Are you taking your meds as prescribed now or are you still trying to taper off them? If you are not taking your meds, your body may be going through withdrawl. My advice is, if you are really in this much distress to the point of having a nervous breakdown, you really need to follow-up with you behavioral health provider IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!! If you feel your condition is an emergency, or if you feel you may cause harm to yourself or to others, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room ASAP!!!!! I am not a licensed behavioral health professional or an expert in this area. Take from my advice what you will and leave the rest. God Bless.
thanks for the comments, i am feeling better, i am back on the meds. i am pretty sure it was withdrawal symptoms.
29sillygirl yeah i have klonopin, i rarely take it, I have a herb called kratom and it works amazing for anxiety, the effects last for hours and there is no rebound anxiety when it wears off. i was just afraid i was taking it too often and build a tolerance. as soon as i took the kratom yesterday, the anxiety was gone, then i slept all day, woke up feeling better, not worse. I would like to see a therapist, I just don't want to spend money, i figured i could just read self help articles, also I don't even try and get support from my boyfriend anymore, I am convinced he is a sociopath.
Did you feel this way before you tapered off the med? Or is this materially different? If the latter, you might be suffering withdrawal; if the former, could be a relapse. If it is different, you might need to go back on the med and taper off more slowly. Only you know the answers to this, not me, I'm just suggesting one possibility. The above post mentions St. John's Wort -- hope you know that shouldn't be taken while you're on an antidepressant, though it can sometimes help with withdrawal. And it's not a sleep aid, it's a natural anti-depressant.
In March when you were having difficulty with Paxil, posted in depression and anxiety forums to ask for help. Believe your doctor switched you to Celexa 20 mg in June. Upping the dosage seemed to help wit dizziness, anxiety, depression.
You mentioned in an post in March that you've suffered for 5 yrs with anxiety/OCD symptoms. Dr. Gould talked to you about changing behaviors. This can be done when a patient is stabilized on the appropriate medication.
In April it seemed the consensus from friends in MH was that your boyfriend was not being supportive; believe the words 'verbal abuse' were used. You were having a lot of physical problems that could have caused anxiety to rise.
You wanted to get back on Lexapro, when you could. What I'd like to know is what you are tapering off of. Lexapro? Are you still taking an herbal remedy for sleep? St John's Wort? Remember you asking about it in an earlier post, but didn't see that you actually tried it.
I didn't remember that your doctor had added a benzo to your meds. It isn't unusual as an adjunct to an antidepressant.
What I couldn't find in your posts was if you are in therapy. You are trying meditation, and
rational behaviors to combat social anxiety issues. Also, watching your diet. All good stuff.
What does your doctor say about your recent decision to discontinue your antidepressant?
