Well, I have bipolor, depression, and anxiety and I have to tell you the anxiety can be horrible at times. I was put on 20mg propranolol last year and it has worked better than anything,,,, including xanex ER 2mg... But, my grandmother has suffered SEVERE pannic attacks for 40something years now, and was always on some kind of medication. My most recent attac, I went to my dr, and he said my heart rate was 120, is should be about 75, he just increased the propranolol and I was fine. My grandmother, however, has stopped her medication about 3 yrs ago and does breathing excersises, (my dr recommended that for me too, but I hyperventalate sometimes, and I am unable to do it) but, they say.... hold your breath for 10 seconds and blow it out, keep doing it until the pain stops. i know you have probably heard it before, but try it, sometimes it does work. Try your hardest to not think you are going to die, because that will make your attac worse...... let us know how you are doing... much love and concern tsnowe123
