panic morning of surgery..

hello..ok i never had anxiety up untill 10 months ago..my anxiety is not nearly as bad as it was at the start sometimes i even think its gone..but in certain situations it comes right back,,,like for example if im at the doctor for what ever reason all of a sudden my heart rate and blood preassure will go up when the doctor is checking it.. i have surgery next month and i know when im in the hospital i will have all these symptoms like when they have you wired up to the machine monitoring your heart..i know my heart rate will increase when im thinking about it and i will have other anxiety symptoms..i have had surgery on 2 other occasions and never needed anything to relax me,, i was care free didnt give a s**t.. but since i developed anxiety this is no longer the case...i know when im on the table before they put me to sleep i will start having a panic attack...has anyone ever had this happen to them.. im just afraid they wont be able to do the surgery if im panicing and freaking out..any feed back and i will be very gratefull thank you..

In my opinion, being anxious at the doctor is not that uncommon, espcially if we are prone to anxiety/panic.  My BP and heart rate shoot through the roof whenever I see a white coat.  I know this and my docs know this, so it really is not a problem when I am there.  As far as surgery goes, can they give you a sedative to calm you down?  I know when I had some procedures done, it helped tremendously...keep us posted!
