Another thing -be careful with the meds. Sometimes a doctor will prescribe a medication for some symptoms without fully appreciating the big picture. This often happens because the patient -a person new to panicPanic disorder Panic disorder with agoraphobia- really doesn't understand it, either, and so of course can't really say much more than they feel edgy or angry or scared -you know the drill. And so, the doctor very nicely prescribes something he or she thinks will help you feel better -and the underlying causes go untreated.
In the worse cases, patients switch from one med to another, hear from others about the meds THEY take, sometimes change doctors in order to GET a particular med -and so on. Think about it for a moment. The absolute WORST people to recommend a course of drug therapy (the patients) end up calling the shots for medications about which they are poorly informed, to be used for a condition they don't even understand. I tell you all this so you won't become one of them, becayuse if you DO become like that, then at least part of your therapy will involve undoing all the drug related problems before we even talk about what's eating at your gut.
Do yourself a favor and get in for a consult today. Then let us know, please, how it went. Hang in, buddy -I know what your up against.
