prozac and bladder problems

To: all
i have had bladder problems(retention and pain) off & on over the years and it always seemed to be when i was taking prozac...my doctor never once mentioned that prozac could be causing all my bladder problems...i had the tubes of the bladder stretched many times and have had much pain and had taken many antibiotics when urine test show infection...i am thinking about stopping the prozac even though it has helped me so much from aniety/nervousness after having my four children...  any advice would be greatly appreciated ...like what other antidepressant i could try instead of prozac.  thanks so much, Nikki

I'm glad you posted and honestly had no clue that prozac caused or contributed to bladder problems. I wonder if you would be kind enough to do 2 favors for me, in exchange for which I will buy you a new car and send you $50,000 in small bills. Well, OK, I really mean for which I would be very grateful.

First of all, JOIN this forum. The stuff you are asking about is important and the answers should be part of our "collective wisdom." So, press the join link over on the right, fill out some profile info and a picture if you like. Once you do that, a click on your name will let folks send you messages and otherwise identify you as one of us.

Then, would you please go ask your same question in the "Ask an Expert" forum. This is where the doctors and medical professionals actually hang out, so the reply you get may carry a little more professional weight then what you would hear from us. Even so, the answers you receive in this forum are based on experience and therefore are important. Anyway, to get to the "Ask and Expert" forum, go to the home page, click the forum link and then scroll down to the Experts forums. I'm guessing the one you want is urology. When you get an answer from a doctor over there, please let us know what it was.

Meanwhile, if anyone else has experienced this same problem, please chime in!

Thanks, Nikki -and I hope that anxiety thing is still under control. Let us know how we can help.
