random panic attacks!

hi all!
ive been an anxiety/panic disorder sufferer for the last 2 years or so. im 27 year old male and of good health.
the question i ask is:- can symptoms of anxiety start at any random time?
such as pains in chest etc? and hot flushes, dry mouth?
ive been getting this alot lately for no apprant reason.
any help plz im abit scared its somthing more serious.
cant help but worry
the doc as just put me on 20mg of citalopram a day. can that cause any bad side affects such as what im feeling now?
ive only been on these for 3 days so far, so not had chance to work yet.
any help or advice would be great thatnks!

The symptoms and seeming randomness are all part of the package, but if you are worried about other causes at work, you'll need a thorough work up to find the other suspects, if there are any.

I would also get a referral to a psychiatrist, ASAP, to be sure the meds are a good match to what you have and to consider a course of therapy to dig down into root causes -the meds help with symptoms -they don't make the problem "go away."
