really anxious or something else?

I don't know if anyone else suffers from this but do Pacs (heart beating weird) feel like a muscle twitch in the upper area of your chest?  I ask this because I usually only get PVC's and lately not too many of those unless my hormones are acting up.  I went out Friday after work to an event and I don't drink so I had a non-alcoholic drink.  Well for some reason a few minutes later my heart started beating so irratic (spelling?) but it was in the upper part of my chest.  It didn't take my breath away or anything like that but it wouldn't STOP.  You know how it feels when your muscle jumps in your arm or leg?  That is what this felt like.  I started to really freak out (in my head) but I put on a good act and kept taking to various people like nothing was wrong.  But all the while I was thinking, "oh my, are they going to have to call 911 for me?"  It was really scary.  It came and went for about 1/2 hour for maybe 15-30 seconds at a time.  After I left the restaurant I didn't have anymore.

I tend to be a bit obsessesed about my heart, but this was extremely scary.  I have noticed this weekend and today I am having a few PVC's but it's almost "that time" so that is to be expected.  If anyone knows what I am talking about please let me know.  I am still trying to figure out the PVC's but now this!!

Sidebar: I think all of this talk of death on the news and radio has got me a bit anxious.  No, a LOT anxious.
Anyone out there understand?

I really think it stopped alittle because of that "fear" (that's how I label anxiety), you was going away from, I would bet you knew you was leaving shortly. I was in the medical field now, I stay away from reading to much , only because my mind always wants to go to the neg. (-) of situations,

Thanks for responding.  Yes, I have heard many people talk about how CBT has helped them. I have been doing very well, that is why I just don't get what happened.  I could see if I got a skipped beat every now and then, but to have the PACS the  way I did was very strange indeed.

And you are right.  I am definately not an expert on any of this even though I have read enough and been to the doctor-cardio enough to have my medical degree :-)  Seriously, it's just so  annoying and scary.  I haven't felt like exercising or anything because I got so freaked out on Friday.  But it was really weird how it stopped a little before I left the restaurant and didn't happen again...go figure.

THANKS for your post, I was waiting to see if anyone would mention about the deaths this week-end, Farrah Faucet, Michael Jackson, then Billy mays at 50 also. I have been in CBT (today my last day of therapy) it really has done allot for me, I also WAS (and sometimes still do) wonder about my heart, but you know we learn in CBT, go with the ODDS!!! be more realistic and remember people who are not famous die everyday and people just die everyday around the world that are not famous.

as for your feelings when going out, YOUR POST speaks volumes, you state how you had these while at the event, yet after the event, these feeling left. (So now we know, not heart related, what are the odds of this happening right after you leave) I will bet this has happened before in other settings. It's really hard to tell someone not to think about your heart, (it's like me saying I don't want you to visuallize a blue elephant in your head, under any circumstances), LOL, my point is every time you have thoughts of your breathing , heart rate, realize , breathing and heart rate, change all the time during the day and night, but you are more focused on them and you have had a check up and all test are fine, your healthy accept it. also remember you are not a specialist in heart disease and PVC's etc... My point is to acknowledge all of this , EVERY TIME, then NEG (-) thoughts come in your head.
