scared i have a brain tumor

Hey hows it going? Ok well im 18 years old and this past year i have been scared i have a brain tumor. I went to a doctor for a check up he checked my ears/weight/tempature i also explained to him that i was scared i have a tumor. My doctor told me it was anxiety. I looked on the inernet i dont have any brain tumor symptoms only thing wrong with me is im light headed and scared. My doctor put me on zoloft for a while like 2 months or so. I stopped taking it because i thought my anxiety was gone. but it just recently came back. Can you help me please? My next appointment is next month. Is there any methods i can use to calm me down? Hi, I think you need to go back on your zoloft isnt there another doctor that you can go an see.  I had the same problem with my doctor was taking me ages to get appointments so I got on the phone an finally found another doctor to see me.   In the meantime try to relax, put some calming music on take some deep breaths thats all I can suggest to you as my anxiety is going through the roof at the moment. I acctually contacted our local mental health team today i got the number from the local hospital and they are comming to see me on Monday. Maybe ring your hospital and see what services are available to you.

Get back on your ZOLOFT!  It is not a medication that you can suddenly go on and off.  Yes, the anxiety will come back when you go off it.  It takes lots of work and longer than 2 months to work out the source of the anxiety.  

The brain tumor thing is very common among us anxiety folks!!!  Hang in there....you will be fine...you do need to, however, work with your doctor before starting or stopping any medication!

i just turned 19, and i've thought i had a brain tumor for about 4years. doctors usually just laugh at me. i had a head CT before and it was normal, but i still worry about it or another probs in the brain. but im sure im fine and your fine as well. anxiety can cause alot of werid syptoms (symptoms) even when your not nervous. i was on celexa its like zoloft and it didnt do much for me but make me feel werid, so you should be on meds but find the right one for you. hope all is well & dont worry : )

i am 21 years old ive had anxiety for over 8 years. ive had health anxiety/hypochondria over hiv/lymes desease/cancer/and now the worst brain tumor. i am now getting help, i encourage anyone suffering from anxiety to get help i got so tired of sitting in my room on the floor so worried about everything, i also got so tired and sick of going days without food and no sleep. i nowhave ibs from axiety. i just started going to a therapist last week and she has already helped me i am still suffering but not as bad and i no know how to control it more, and help convince myself that i have anxiety and not a brain tumor. im in my more mild stage now of my brain tumor anxiety episode its not gone i still get weird symptoms but i am more calm and i can eat and sleep now. if any one want to talk about health anxiety hypochondria or anxiety you can email me. ***@****

It is so refreshing to see that other people feel the way I do. I really think I am going crazy sometimes with all the worrying about what is wrong with me. I too am so convinced  I have a brain tumor although I have had neurologic testing and it was fine, I thought it could be my heart so I had EKG, fine...I get dizzy and lightheaded at least once a day. I can be just sitting watching tv and bam, I'm dizzy. I have had numerous doctors tell me it is just anxiety. I was prescribed Zoloft, I know this sounds dumb but I am scared to take it in fear of an allergic reaction or something. I am so sick of worrying about what I could be dying from daily....Amber

I am scared of that  right now to. I have these sensations on both sides on my temples. Sometimes like the vessels rub together or bubbly. Its weird. I have had my eyes checked recently and asked him about brain tumor because they can see those things. He reassured me I  was ok,   but I am still freakin!

I can understand where you are coming from.  I went to an eye Dr with the same fear.  Even after testing I thought I had ine too.  I went to  a neurologist and they did an MRI and my eye Dr was right.  I was fine.   If you have a good eye Dr, trust in them.  With testing and dilating the pupils they can actually see you optic nerve which will show swelling if the tumor was big enough...so if you have been experiencing it for a long while, and are still concerned go to a neurologist and have them do testing that will relieve your fear.  Are you on any anti anxiety meds?  Good luck to you

No, I am not on meds. I should try them, but I so hope this would get better on its own.  Today was  a good day and I hardly noticed it.  I was busy with my son all day, so I hope it will continue to distract me!  Do you still have this fear, after having tests done?

im having the exact same thing ive had this 4 8 months after having a baby i keep thinkin im dying from a brain tumor and the docs laf at me and say i avent got one its all anxiety.ive also had my eyes tested and nothing it is horrible but i still think its a brain tumor but the doc sed hes not checkin me again cuz i avent got one but i go dizzy everyday and have headaches and feel sik i typed my symtoms (symptoms) up on the net and it comes up brain tumor which makes me worse its horrible and i dearnt av a scan just incase they say im goin die of a tumor

Hi I'm a 17 year old female and I am absolutly positive and petrified that I have a brain tumor. I was diagnosed with anxiety, but I am extreamly worried that isn't the problem. I have almost all of the symptoms of a brain tumor weird pains(odd sharp pressures) somtimes they move and sometimes they are constant (mostly on the left side of my head). Strange headaches everyday, and I never used to get headaches. I also have developed short term memory problems, and I dont feel like myself. I forget about my homework and find myself struggling in school. I feel my personality has changed drasticly, and i feel nausious a lot of the time. I find learning and concentrating more difficult than ever. I feel disconected from everyone, even my boyfriend who I love to death and have been with for 2 years. It feels like I have no feeling anymore? Please Help, I need all the support I can get. What should I do? Dose this sound like a brain tumor?

I have anxiety symptoms... I have shortness of breath and my heart pounds some time for no reason... i wish i didnt worry about things so much, but i really think it has to do with how i was raised.. my family fussed alot yelling and screaming it made me so nervous... so when ever im around alot of loud noise it really makes my anxiety bad. I wish i could get help without any meds... but it seems like my health is suffering from it... I may get tested first then try zoloft... but i really dont want to feel like a zombie... i tried paxil and other meds when i was younger and none seem to work... i just felt tired and didnt want to do anything... therapy is a good thing but to me it's a waist of money, i know why im this way i just really would like to fix it without spending alot of money to do so... right now im unemployed and no health insurance.. Im going to church and trying to feel better it's just a real battle... Whats everyones opinion on taking Zoloft???  does it work? or does it make you feel like a zombie like all the others???

If you've been to your doctors and they tell you that you do not have a brain tumor, you need to trust them. They have many criteria to go by for diagnosing the symptoms of a tumor. If they thought, for one second, that you might be a candidate, they would be sending you to a neurologist immediately, who would send you for an MRI immediately! It's anxiety!
For those of you who HAVE had an MRI, and no tumor was found, you need to trust that.

And while eye doctors can indeed detect certain problems associated with a brain tumor, they cannot view your entire brain with their equipment. If you are relying ONLY on what your eye doc has told you, I would advise a discussion about your fears with your GP. Who will no doubt, as I said above, diagnose you with anxiety. Which it undoubtably is.
There have been many symptoms talked about in this thread and for those who are looking up those "symptoms" on the Net, I'll tell you right now to stop doing that! If you persist in diagnosing yourself, why stop at a brain tumor? Do you have ANY idea how many other things could be "wrong" with your brain causing those weird and bizarre symptoms and feelings?

Do you know how powerful your brain is? Do you know that it can actually make you feel all those symptoms you're looking up and obsessing about?
I had a brain tumor when I was much younger, too. It was a whopper of a tumor! Daily headaches and dizziness and sick to my stomach and jumpy and fearful and anxious and my vision was wonky.............mine went away when I got the glasses I needed to see the blackboard. (But I still had the anxiety!) I moved on to cancer when the brain tumor didn't pan out...........didn't have that either.
I had ANXIETY!  
If you still believe you have a brain tumor, see your doctor again. If they tell you it's anxiety, ask them to help you deal with THAT and get into some therapy to help you figure out WHY you have the anxiety. And if you've tried therapy and felt it didn't help, perhaps you had a lousy therapist or perhaps YOU didn't work hard enough at helping yourself. A therapist is NOT going to solve your problems for you, they are going to help YOU solve your problems.
If you can't afford therapy, tell your doctor. Many times they can help find you low cost or even free therapy.
I DO understand your fears, really, I've been where you are. But there comes a time when you just have to start believing that anxiety is doing this to you. When all the tests keep coming back negative, it's time to deal with what you really DO have.

Google is definitely a HUGE enemy when it comes to this sort of thing. I know a couple months ago I was having like a headache issue and I searched it, naturally, brain tumors came up and it has bothered me ever since! Its been insanely hard to get over! Fortunately though, I don't seem to have any of the symptoms! I just get frequent, quick headaches that last for like a second and for some crazy reason they bug me out. I have had problems with anxiety the last couples years and I found it funny that as soon as I saw the symptoms that became my "new thing" to be scared of. It's stupid, but googling really doesn't help! I did it tonight and am deeply regretting it haha.  Like greenlydia says, the brain can do INSANE things! I have noticed that if you think it, you can feel it! Getting over the fear of brain tumors has been the most difficult for me, and am still working on it. Its frustrating and constant fear is getting old. I'm kind of noticing that young people have large problems with anxiety! I am 22 and have been dealing with it since I got married almost two years ago. I will say though, if a doctor says there isn't anything there, take peace in that! If you don't you'll only go crazy!!!

Currently I am dealing with thinking I have an unruptured brain aneurysm. I have been having pains on the right side of my head by my temple. Then I get pains on the bridge of my nose. I google all of these things that I think I have and sure enough my symptoms align right with a brain aneurysm. I mean they can align with plenty of other things too. Earlier today I was worried I was having a stroke too. Obviously I didn't have a stroke. I have also been struggling with dizziness. I've been trying to come to grips with the fact that it is just anxiety. It is just tough because I have not had a CT scan or MRI or anything. I have had a full cardiac workup and that was fine because before I was worrying about heart attack and a fib.

I really want to get a CT or MRI, but after all that other testing that I had done I have reached my limit for insurance for the year. So now I am just trying to go about my life, and not think about this too much. I am now just waiting for this huge headache to come, and have the aneurysm that I know I have to rupture. I know I should probably start talking the zoloft I was perscribed, but those meds scare me to take especially after the terrible time I had with taking paxil for a couple of days.

Good luck to everyone else that is going through these same things. And I already know I need to stop looking up symptoms, and probably even coming to med help, but it is like an addiction now, and all it does is give me more anxiety.

im 19 yrs old, it all started a week ago when i got pains in my chest and started feeling dizzy and lightheaded, i went to the hospital a couple of days later had an ecg, bloodtest etc and everything was fine. i still get the pains, dizzyness and lightheadedness and dont feel in this world at all, its taking over my life only after a week and now im convinced i have a tumour of some sort. i get angry quickly as well, ive been suffering panic attacks aswell, ive isolated my self from everyone and been off work coz i just cant cope, i honestly think im dying of something, This is the WORST feeling in the world ever  and sometimes i wish i was dead the way this is goin on, i dont feel like me no more....what is happening???? i am in desperate need of help big time coz i cant go on like this at all. please help!!!! rache

im 17 year old female i am a youngmum and have always been a  worryier i have severe tremorss every day numbness of the face tight jaw head presure behind my eyees headaches spacey feeling from the moment i wake up to theminiute i go to bed as well as extreme tirdness i have recently started expirencing nausea and stomach upset i am absoloutly convinced i have a brain tumour i get severe panic attacks sometimes for no reason at all and think im dying it is ruing my life i have recenlty been prescribed the anti depresant celexa as the doc thinks i have  a severe anxiet disorder i have seen 4 docs and an optician and had a full blood count but nothing will get the thouht out my head about the brain tumour!!
