I also try to pinch myself really hard when I feel it coming on,weird but it helps focus on something else!!
How aweful for you and I can understand your fear. Just putting that aside for one second have your blood pressure checked and if you need medication for that then you better start, that is then at least one worry out of your mind. I have been on blood pressure tablets for years and it is going very well. Thats the problem with a panic/anxiety attack, we feel like we are going to die, the more out of control we get, the more fear/panic sets in and feeds the problem further, I guess its like what comes first the chicken or the egg. Now that this has happened to you believe me when I say your mind knows it can control your body. What melmel44 says above is very true you must learn have to use your breathing whenever you feel anxiety coming on, the more you are able to do this the more you can control how severe it could be. Your brain was starving for oxygen because your breathing was so shallow and irratic that you werent getting enough oxygen and therefore all the carbon dioxide was also staying in the system. I have spoken many times on these posts about using Belly Breathing together with mind control. You need to consider if you feel you need any medication yet or is your normal level of anxiety manageable if you learn to use some of the bodies natural tools. The main thing you need to know is that you are not going crazy, you are not going to die, and you can learn to deal with it. I use a combination of medication, relaxation techniques, breathing techniques and mind control. You will find a lot of help and support on these posts so dont be affraid to ask. God Bless you in your healing journey, le me know how you get on.
I completely understand!!! I had such a massive panic attack week the amulance had to come and get me!! I stared hyper-ventilating and my hands all of the sudden froze up, I could not move them at all!! I have never been so terrified in my life!! Went to the er and no heart or other problems found. I have struggled with these attacks for years in and off but this was the mother of them all!! I feel you!! My doc just recently put me back on my xanax and prozac(thank the Lord for xanax) I felt like my heart would explode and I was going to die!! The meds are beginning to help! I keep the xanax with me and a paper bag to breath into(which helps tremendosly!) I felt one coming on today in the car, I just pulled over took my bag out, blasted cold hair and laid my seat back and was able to come out of it!! Our minds have soo much control over our bodies!! We have to learn coping mechanisma to deal!!
