shaking muscles

I have been playing saxophone for a couple of years. I have actually always been quite a secure person but for the last 2 years there has been alot going on and a really big preasure in music so my security has gone quite low. Now for the past year I have been having a really strange problem. I can't really control my muscles around my mouth. Often when I'm playing the tone becomes really shaky and when I watch it in the mirror I can see the area above my lip shaking. Today was actually quite an emotinal day and I had a saxophone class and then I could feel how parts of my body were also shaking, without my being able to control it. Is this just stress and insecurity or could this be something more serious?

Thank you in advandage

Thank you for your replies. I agree with that I think it could be some sort of anxiety because around the time it started I was going through a really stressful time, I was taking a really hard test on the saxophone that I was really nervous for, I was playing in a music competition at the same time that was really stressful too and all this preasure made me feel really insecure and actually kind of depressed. I'm also always really nervous to play in public, even often just for my teacher ..But now I'm doing some kind of exercises my teacher gave me to kind of try to train these muscles but if that doesn't work I think i have to take it further and talk to a doctor

This shaky feeling you get could be caused by many things but my guess would be nervousness or anxiety.  Since you don't mention it happening other times I would rule out hypoglycemia or other physical conditions..  I would lean towards situational anxiety.  Something like stage fright or a fear of public speaking.  Even though you love to play the Saxophone, it may be putting pressure on you to perform well.  Stress can cause a lot of anxiety.  I would like to say RELAX and enjoy the music, but that is probably not likely.  I would see a doctor or therapist about this problem and perhaps they can teach you some relaxation techniques.  It may even help to try a med for this anxiety.  A doctor can push you in the right direction.  Good luck and hope you get back to enjoying your music!

Do you remember if something traumatic happened around the time that this started? Loss of a friend or family, break-up, body issues?
