short buzz/electric impulse

short buzz/electric impulse

Hi, whilst I am awake almost every few minutes I feel a very short buzz/electric impulse/mental twitch it feels a little bit like an electric shock or the feeling like right before you orgasm, but much less intense and much shorter it is very difficult to describe but i am trying my best. This has been happening for almost 2 weeks and it happened to me long ago but only a few times and I didnt read much into it. However, now this is happening almost all the time when i am awake and I have found myself wanting to sleep much more than usual i sleep more than 12 hours a day now and last week I didnt want to wake up and spent almost 36 hours in bed. Also, whenever my senses are stimulated especially touching something cold or hot or rubbing my hands or face etc this induces the buzz i get. Also, sometimes i get shooting pains which feel very hot in my leg and sometimes hands. Could this be something related to my nerves, should i get a brain scan or MRI? thanks

Hi! You don't mention if you are taking any medications, but since you have posted on this forum, I will assume you either already have some anxiety issues or this "buzz" is causing you to have them. What you've described is what most of here refer to as "brain zaps." I don't think any of us knows how or why they happen, but we're pretty sure it's from the meds we're taking.
I get a very strange feeling sometimes upon waking, while I'm laying there very quietly just minding my own business, and I don't know what to make of it. It's like I have this constant electric current running through my body that I am totally unaware of.........that is, until there is this nano second interruption of the circuit. It is a very disconcerting feeling! No pain, no other symptoms and as I said, it last for less than a nano secon, but will keep repeating itself until I get out of bed and get moving. Then I am either too busy to notice it or being up and about has made it stop. It's a mystery to me, but I do know I don't like it and wish it would go away! I think mine is caused from a withdrawl (withdrawal) of Xanax. (Jury still out on that one)
You say that yours last all day and can be produced by touching certain things. This would, I think, drive me around the bend.
I wish I had an answer for you, sadly, I don't. I think if you spend some time going thru some posts here, you will find quite a few referrenced to "brain zaps" and you could PM those folks and discuss this with them, hopefully getting more help than I gave you.
As I said, I am blaming mine on my medication(s) and I think quite a few others feel the same.
If you get no other responses, send me a PM and I will find the folks who talk about this condition and put them onto you.
Hang in there, OK? It hasn't killed any of us yet! LOL
Peace

Are you taking medications?  And do these "electrical currents" seem to run through your whole body or just your head?
