stopping xanax.. help!

hi ive been taking xanax now for just over a year. every day ive taken half of one of the white bars (think they are 2mgs?) ive been buying them off the street and kind of self medicating. not only that but i also drink with them. anyway i am ready to stop. ive been trying to stop myself but last nite i had a little panic attack because i didnt take any which was my first. i just want to know what is reccomended in tapering off xanax yourself. i can do this myself i would just like to know the best way and dosages to go about. the only thing that really scares me about stopping xanax is having a seizure and dying! any input is appreciated. thank you!!! god bless!!

Well first rule is just don't stop. Click of the fingers type stopping. That will only make you worse. Got to do it over a period of time. Months. Not weeks. Break your xanax tablets up and take a smaller amount to begin with. So if you were on 1mg, now take .75mg ( 3/4 ) Let your body get used to that amount. May take three weeks on that amount. Then take off another bit of the tablet. Again letting your body adjust to the newer dosage. I am sure you see how it is done by now. The slower you come off them the lesser the withdrawls.
