surgery and anxiety

by 3dognewt, Jul 19, 2007 08:12AM
Hello everyone,
I suffer from occasional panic attacks, and I also have anxiety about my heart, usually when the rate is too high for no apparant reason. I need to have some minor surgery next week and will be given the sedative Versed. Has anyone experienced any side effects after being given this anesthetic. I am absolutely terrified that it will cause my heart to race and I won't be able to cope with it. Thanks in advance.

I do not know about this drug but I know how you feel about getting anything that will make your heart race. I had to go to the er the other day and they gave me something for pain when I finally let them. I was more terrified about the med instead of the pain. When the medicine started to hit me I was fghting it the whole time. Good luck. Do a search on the med. I hope someone can help you more.
