Hi suzi,

I recall that you have Thalessemia.  Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?

You have a nice weekend too, and try not to stress about it.  I am sure it is just your typical Thallasemia case!

Oh, thank you!  You made my day.  Yes he is a very thorough doctor and I hope that's all it is.  I'm gonna take my old medical records and show it to the hematologist and see if they have any cancellations next week so I can get in sooner.  THANK YOU!!  Hope you are having a nice weekend.

Yes, I have.  Two times over the past years, usually when I get a new doctor, I am sent to a hemotologist.  Your doctor is just being thorough.  A doctor that is not familiar with your case usually does a freak out when they see the hemoglobin count low and the billirubin high.  I know that going to the doctor creates more anxiety.  JUST WHAT WE NEED!  But I doubt it is anything more.  The last time I went to a hemotologist he took like 10 viles of blood.  I was a wreck!  I said what are you testing me for and he said EVERYTHING.  Remember, this is what they are suppose to do.  You know that you have Thalassemia and your last doctor shows no concern, so I would just go and do it and try not to panic.  Your doctor is doing what he is suppose to do.  HANG IN THERE AND LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES!

Thank you!

I was also diagnosed with Thalassemia years ago, so I thought.  My previous doctor ran iron studies and maybe something other tests, I'm not sure.  She said that it showed up in my blood about three times over the last 7 years.  Well, we moved last December, so I had to find another doctor closer to home.  My last blood test in April showed the abnormality again which was most likely indicative of Thalassemia, the report read. But my doctor wants me to see a hematologist anyway!  He started saying things like maybe it has something to do with my bone marrow.  I had the test results faxed to my previous doctor and she compared them to my old blood tests and said that it is most likely Thalassemia and did not say I had to see a hematologist.  But my current doctor doesn't agree.  So now I am worried out of my mind.  I am scheduled to see the hematologist on July 23.  I was just wondering did you ever have to see a hematologist about your Thalassemia?

Thanks again.
