Im right now taking a 1/4 in the morning and 1/4 at night, I had to go to a walk in DOCs to get some antibiotics for my teeth, and he asked me how the K's were doing and I told them they work great, but I didnt want to have to be on them for much longer "Ive been on them the same amount of time as you"
And I told him how I was taking them, and how Id like to be prescribed .5mgs "right now I have 1mgs" that way I could cut the .5's in quarters and instead of taking .5 total a day
I could take 1/8 in the morning, and 1/4 during the day..or at night,
then cut down again by a 1/8th a week or so later, that way Id be taking 1/8 in the morning, then 1/8th at night..and keep working it down, and possibly trying to cut the 1/8 "if I can do it without the pill turning into powder, lol" and take the lowest as possible, that way its less for my body to DT from.
He told me it shouldnt be so bad because I kept myself at such a low dosage
there is also water titration methods that seem to have a good success, just google water titration for klonopins, you should be able to find it.
I have noticed that if I educate myself about these things, that its better when you go to your Docs to discuss it, because Ive proven my Doc wrong a couple of times, the DOC that I went to recently that liked my idea of cutting down agreed WHOLE HEARTILY about everything I told him about, and he told me my reg Doc must not be as familiar with the subject of Anxiety and Benzos as what she should be.
He was also amazed on how I told him My reg Doc told me to take K's "as needed" yet there not a "as needed" medicine, and that there supposed to build a steady plasma state in ones body, to PREVENT anxiety.
So I suggest you look up support groups, and how to taper on the Enet before you talk to your Doc, that way you both are on somewhat of the same level and can come to a agreeable method, and not just them trying to ween you to quick.
If people like us have been on them this long already, its not going to gurt anything if it takes alittle time to taper off, and who knows you might need 1/4 mg a year from now or something if anxiety flares up, I pray that it wont for both of us though.
Also, please dont let your DOC treat you like a addict, they have a problem with doing that, because there used to people without our kind of problems coming in just to get these Meds to get high...or I mean low, lol
you pay them, so they can treat you with respect, and respect the fact that you needed this Medicine, and of course your body has gained alittle addiction, and that you just dont want to suffer.
Everyone has a right to feel safe and comfortable, so please dont let them try to taper you to quick, Ive heard great success from people who did it nice and slow, and went through virtually no withdraws.

The ONLY way to do it is with the advice and consultation with your doctor.  Do not do it on your own.  My mantra has always been the slower the better.  If you have concerns while it is happening, you can raise them with him/her and possibly work out a slower taper.  Benzos like klonopin can be a little hard to come off of sometimes, but this one has a longer half life so it should not be as hard to come off of as others like Ativan and Xanax, in my opinion...keep us posted!
