thanatophobia

So it seems that my anxiety has has shifted from scare of contracting HIV (then I found out I didn't) to thanatophobia, that is fear of death. Not from a desease, it could even be from old age... Is a fear of my councience not existing anymore...

I thought I was going to be the happiest person in the world after getting my Hiv negative results... But now my mind has found something else to worry about. Something that won't go away with a test. This is only the third day I'm dealing with it. I wish I could stop it before it progresses.... My HIV anxiaty lasted 3 months day in day out obsessebly until I got my test results....

Any suggestions?????

Ah..........the fear of death. I think this one has been around since day one and the vast majority of people "suffer" from it to one extent or another.
Dealing with it has been the subject of countless epic tomes, learned journals, philisophical discussions, religions, poems...........to name just what comes to mind.
The fact is, we are all going to die someday and how we come to terms with that fact and deal with it is totally individual.
If this phobia becomes disruptive to the quality of your life, I would advise you to seek out the guidance of your religious leader or a qualified therapist.
Peace

Thank you... It's weird how it never crossed my mind until now, at age 28...... I don't fear dying, I fear not being in any shape or form.... I fear that there is no soul... Wich contradicts everything I stand for because I do beleive in God and souls...

My grandma says that those are demonds messing with me....!!!! I would like to have proof that there is an afterlife...!!!!!!

Hello. This is probably one of mankinds oldest and most debated questions. Of course, this is one of the main principles in religion, whether an eternal existence on a spiritual plane, or a repetitive cycle of learning as in reincarnation. Personally, I do believe there is something beyond the grave, but since I've never been there, I can only speculate as to its nature. But the next best thing to dying, is the experience of those that have been there and back. Interestingly enough, the process of dying is strikingly similar among all sorts of people. It transcends the boundaries of religion, age, sex, race, preconceptions and morality. A site I found that has a lot of information on this subject is NDERF. Additionally, I'm a member of an organization that conducts investigations of supposed paranormal activity, and though most anomalies can be attributed to natural causes, some of my experiences reinforce my belief that our destination is not a cemetery, but an indescribable existence that can not be understood with our conventional senses. Good luck in your search and take care, GM
