waking up in the middle of the night on klonopin

hello again,
as some may know on this forum, i was on klonopin for 4 months .25 am/pm. i did great on it! i started feeling a little anxious a few weeks ago and was actually starting to have panic attacks again, so 4 days ago i decided to move up to .5 mg am/pm. im still having anxiety and some minor attacks. i dont know if i need to give it more time or if i need a higher dose? but the main problem is. EVERY single night since i've increased by dosage, i've been waking up at 3 am then i go back into a light sleep then wake up for good at 6 am...i dont need to be awake until 8-9am. it really effects me. i feel like im running on no sleep and im very cranky and all day i just want to lay in bed. its like im so drowsy but just cant seem to fall asleep.
any advice/suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated! thanks

People, you have to remember that SSIRI s and SNRI s really do not work for most of the population, the side effects are too great!

i have had this as well with taking klonopin - been on it for about 2 years now but i dont take it every day, only as needed.  id appreciate anyone's advice as well.  personally, id rather not be on a SSRI - been there, hated it.  im wondering if there are natural helpers?

Hey there, have you considered taking an SSRI (paxil, zoloft, etc) rather than Klonopin?  The Paxil is a miracle for my attacks =)

Namaste,
The Klonopin usually induces drowsiness, but it can also cause sleep disturbances similar to those that you are having.
I wouldn't recommend increasing your dosage without the consent of your doctor, who may be able to prescribe a different benzo which will still give you relief from your anxiety, but without this particular side effect.
There are many medication options available, but without taking action, you'll probably continue to suffer.
Finally, I'd like to say that the lack of sleep you are experiencing can cause more anxiety as well as a multitude of physical problems.
See or talk with your doctor soon.
